Edwin Armstrong was born in New York and attended high school in Yonkers before studying at Columbia University. He is renowned for inventing FM radio. Armstrong committed suicide in 1954 by jumping from his apartment window in New York. He made significant contributions to radio technology but struggled for recognition of his innovations.
