Villa Cappelli is a 17th century historic residence in Pollena Trocchia that has passed through several noble families. It is built on high ground with a delightful garden, grove, and large terrace overlooking the Gulf of Naples. Cappabianca museum in Pollena Trocchia contains various human and animal remains that provide insight into the past. The original church of San Giacomo Apostolo dates to the 13th century and has expanded over centuries to include additional chapels and a larger church built in 1787 to accommodate more worshippers. belonged first to the Vespoli and
Latiano families, later to the
Marquises of the Titus and

Marquis Domenico Cappelli in

of the Municipality of Pollena

of the Vesuvian villas and noble
palaces in which the Neapolitan
nobility loved to spend holidays.
It is spread over several levels,

4. The original structure of the church of San
Giacomo Apostolo di Pollena Trocchia
probably dates back to the 13th century.
It looks like a set of sacred buildings built
later over the centuries, which have come
to form a single body.
The oldest building is the church of Sant
'Apollinare, already existing in 1542, as
reported in the documents of the pastoral
visit of Archbishop Carafa.
Adjacent to this, and also mentioned in
the same acts, was the chapel of St. James
the Apostle which in 1679 was enlarged
and became a parish church.
A second church dedicated to St. James the
Apostle, much larger than the first, was
built before the other two in 1787 to
facilitate the many faithful in participating
in the sacred functions and forms with
them, as already mentioned, a single body.

our country in 1788, coming from Naples, with Count Ambrose.
Inhabitants in the Villa Caracciolo, located in the Homonymous street,
the current seat of the Nursing Home for seniors "Regina Pacis" (The
Sisters of the Visitation have installed the hospice, merging the Villa
Caracciolo - Alveo side, with the Villa Ruoppolo, property of the
homonymous Family, belonging to the Neapolitan patricians).
The Villa with a beautiful park, English style, is dominated by a side
tower and, its rooms were all finely frescoed and decorated.
Unfortunately the frescoes and the false ceilings, as well as the
beautiful chapel, remain only the memory and some faded photos of
the beginning '900.
Luigi Caracciolo, belonging to this family, was Count of the Holy
Roman Empire and general in the time of Maria Teresa of Austria; He
died in Desdra in 1758.
In 1755 Maria Imara Francone, married Luigi Caracciolo di Torchiarolo
(cousin of the previous) and jointly.
6. Pollena Trocchia: Let's talk about the
area of territory called Carcavone, a
part of Monte Somma.
The area was disfigured, for twenty
years, by the quarry's mining activity
and then offended by illegal waste
spills.
The resulting environmental and
hydrogeological mess is easily
imaginable.
