5. HOW TO PLAY?
• International Hockey can be played indoors and
outdoors. For each event, the rules may vary
differently.

6. OUTDOORS
• the pitch was 100-150 yards long and 50- 80 yards
wide; goals consisted of 7 feet tall posts placed 6
yards apart;
• the sticks were “curved and wooden approved by
the Committee of the Association” the ball was an
“ordinary sized cricket ball”
• players were not permitted to raise their stick above
their shoulder
• a temporary suspension for offending player(s) was
to be at least 5 minutes
• Colour control cards (green, yellow, red) were
introduced into the Rules book
7. INDOORS
• Six players, including a goalkeeper and six
substitutes, but only at specific situations in the
game.
• If any team was reduced to less than four players,
the opponents were declared the winners.
• Dimensions of pitch and goals (slightly smaller than
those of outdoor hockey).
• permitting a defender to use the stick to stop or
deflect a shot at goal at any height
8. THE SEASON
• “The next edition of the Hockey World League will commence
in June 2014 with the four rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Semi-
Finals and Finals) concluding in 2015.”
Round 1 events spans

members that are unified to play this sport.
