What Is Integration?
Many people didn't think that integration could happen but, it did. On September 9, 1957, the nine
students tried going into Central High School. The Arkansas National Guard did not let them enter
the school, orders from Governor Faubus. These nine students were chosen for specific reasons.
According to Daisy Bates they were determined by their strength and determination to face what they
would encounter. They were also determined by "The basis of scholarship, personal conduct, and
health. We picked those who had the mental ability to do the job and had used it," stated Blossom.
The nine students that were recruited were Minnijean Brown, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green,

Essay Global Integration
Global Integration "Global integration is shrinking time, shrinking space and eroding national
boundaries." (IMF & World Bank) Globalisation possibly the most important force at work at this
time in history describes the process of increase integration and interdependence between national
economies. It depicts the breaking down of national boundaries leading to the establishment of a
single world market. This inevitable process of globalisation has and will continue to be accelerated
by the electronic revolution. Advancement in telecommunications and information technology has
lead to growth in cross border relationships initiated by the drivers of globalisation. Embracing

This can be seen through Australia's trade pattern with exports rising from 12per cent of gross
domestic product (GDP) in the 1980's increasing to be worth 20per cent of GDP in the 1990's. With
exceptional statistics similar to this, the rapid growth in the global economy facilitated by the
electronic revolution is anticipated. Forces of Globalisation The opportunity to join the global
economy is open to every nation; the driving forces are generally supported by all governments in
pursuit of the substantial rewards. The forces underpinning globalisation are the liberalisation of
global trade; increase specialisation of products and services; and the improved levels of technology
and communications reducing costs. Liberalisation of trade has been made possible through the
formation of the World Trade Organisation and several other regional trade agreements. The
establishment and operation of these trading blocs has been made possible through the electronic
revolution. The efficiency of the trade agreements due to the accelerated technology contains many
long term benefits for member nations. Prime Minister John Howard outlines the benefits of trade
liberalisation with reference to the proposed bilateral trade agreement with the United States. "A free

National Integration: A myth or reality
The integrity of any nation invariably depends on the integrity of its citizens. After all, it is the
individuals who constitute society or a nation. Society or nation minus individuals is nothing. The
individual is a reality; whereas the society is a myth. The society exists because of individuals.
Therefore, the integration of a nation is only a mere manifestation of the integrity of the individual.
The more one is integrated and undivided, the more the society is integrated and undivided. So the
individual is the pillar on whom the whole edifice of a nation stands. It is in this sense the national
integration is more a myth than a reality, more a dream than a fact, more a conceived concept by

These terrorists are the greatest enemies of the nation. They indulge in the most inhuman and
gruesome activities like mass massacre that puts humanity itself to shame.
Among the other factors leading to disintegration are defective educational system, lop–sided role of
political parties and the great economic factor. One disastrous effect of foreign rule was the cultural
denudation of the educated youth by means of westernized education which presented colored and
distorted versions of our history and culture. Political parties in this country give first priority to
their political ambitions at the cost of love for the country. They do not hesitate to exploit communal,
regional and other parochial passions; the temptations of power are too strong for some politicians
and parties. But one of the greatest cause of disintegration is the great economic factor–the ever
widening gulf between the rich and the poor. So long as this gap lasts, all talks of national
integration will sound hollow.
How is national integration to be accomplished. The first and the foremost step is to eradicate
terrorism from the soil of India. The Central Government must check obscurantism, regionalism and
separatism with an iron hand. The Government should never yield to regional pressures, particularly
when they are in the form of violence and intimidation. Linguistic fanaticism should be suppressed,

India has many races, nationalities, castes, sub–castes and communities but so far the hear of India
is concerned it is one. It is true that societies that have been integrated into bonds of unity have
always enjoyed peace, stability, prosperity and permanence. And those torn by mutual disruptive
tendencies among various sections of the society have always been short lived and become non–
existent. The national integration is the process of uniting different people from all walks of life

Religious identity was used as a mask to cover up the vested interests of the conflicting parties.
Therefore the root cause of communalism is not the presence of many religions in the country. When
religious sentiments are exploited with an economic or political motive the resultant effect gives rise
to the genesis of communalism.
He points out that secularism is a basic feature of the constitution which cannot be changed even by
parliament. There is no state religion and the state is prohibited against discrimination on the basis of
religion. He believes that for multi–culturalism can survive and communal harmony can prevail only
when we ensure equality of status among people and equal opportunity for everyone as conceived in
the Constitution of India. In the second part of the paper, the author focuses his attention on the
concept of social integration.
Moreover, she argues that despite some differences at ritual, social and cultural levels among
different religions, there is conspicuous commonality at the level of values that promotes communal
harmony. various faiths and religions can contribute to the building of tolerance in the world. He
stresses that every religion contains components of belief, rituals, information and knowledge,
behavioural consequences and the expectations that guide the whole system. Looking at Bhuddhism,

Education is of great significance for bringing out about National and emotional integration. It is a
strong weapons which can be used effectively for achieving our national understanding. Some of the
ways And means to promote National Integration are as under :–
1) National Policy of Education
The policy should have the uniform pattern from primary to university level throughout the length
and the breadth of the country. The following things should be implemented :–
a) Admissions
Students should be admitted in the institutions on the basis of intelligence and ability.
b) Scholarship
It should be given on the basis of their ability and financial position and not on the basis of caste,
religion or...show more content...

Teacher should inspire them for having faith and love for national language, national literature,
national culture, national festivals, national symbols and national glory.
9) Check wrong tendencies
When the teacher notices that young minds are going towards casteism, linguism, narrow
mindedness, rowdyism and hooliganism, he should try to check the.
10) Implementing Government programmes
The directions and programmes of the government for developing national integration should be
taken more seriously and implemented.
Conclusion
National Integration is vital for India's survival. It is the cry of the moment. The country must
mobilize all its resources to evolve a concrete national programme. The future of the nation is dark
unless a high national character of the people is developed

European Integration Essay
After the tragedies of World War II, European leaders have made striving efforts to prevent such a
catastrophic event from occurring on their continent again. The best solution seemed to be highly
mechanized cooperation among the highest European powers to assure that future conflict, and
perhaps war, could not arise between them. If all the states ran themselves in a manner cooperating
with their neighbors, conflict could be avoided. To prevent other nations from not cooperating,
treaties and institutions would have to be designed for each area of international interest such as
trade, communications, security, and so forth. As the century progressed, more organizations,
institutions and associations were...show more content...
If both benefit the most in cooperating, as is the case in the prisoner's dilemma, they will both
cooperate, and peace will be maintained . This basic liberal assumption of the importance of
individual gains is the main support for European integration. If all states cooperate in all arenas,
leading to a collectively sovereign "Europe", the individual gains of each state will be adequate
enough to avoid conflict among themselves making it easier to approach the rest of the international
system together peacefully.
In the event of an integrated Europe, constructivists recognize that to completely avoid conflict, each
state will have to succumb to a "European identity" and all individual identities will have to become
merely "cultural gems" within the European system. This, they argue, can be achieved with the
success of several steps including economic, judicial, and security integration . The first step has
already been attempted with the establishment of the Euro, the common European currency, which
has been outperformed by its monetary competitors. A great amount of trust will have to be secured
between states before a common court or army can be established, and most likely with as little
success as the common currency. So, even by these simplified guidelines the outlook for the creation
of a new "European
