2. Dr. Amy Kenton received her PhD in
educational leadership and policy studies
from Hofstra University in 2012. In March
2013, Amy Kenton took on the role of chief
executive officer of Howard Gardner
Multiple Intelligence Charter School, where
she balances work with the Board of
Education and strategic planning efforts
with Common Core implementation and a
major facility relocation.
3. The only public charter school serving
the Scranton, Pennsylvania, area, Howard
Gardner Multiple Intelligence Charter
School offers a high-quality free
education to preschool through eighth-
grade students.The school recently
moved to a new facility on East Mountain
that provides twice as much space as its
old building and offers outdoor
amenities.
4. Located in the previous home of the
Friendship House on East Elm Street, the
new facility provides a gymnasium, two
playgrounds, and art and music rooms, none
of which the school had access to previously.
Thanks to the additional classroom space
available in the building, the school
expanded enrollment to 185 students and
plans to grow to a student body of 230 in the
coming years.
