This study analyzed the application of polymer modified bitumen for flexible pavements. Materials tested included bitumen, ABS, PVP, PVA, and waste polymer. Polymer modified bitumen samples were prepared by adding polymers at 3%, 5%, and 7% to heated bitumen and stirring for 4 hours. Stripping tests were conducted on the samples by heating to 160°C and adding aggregates for 2 hours, then leaving for 24 hours. The benefits of polymer modified bitumen identified were increased fatigue resistance, decreased thermal cracking, improved stability, positive modification of viscoelastic properties, and decreased total pavement costs.
