My Passion Is Art
The thing that drives me through early mornings, and late nights is what holds a special place in
my heart. My whole life has been an obstacle for me, but I knew that I could depend on one thing
to make it all better. My passion is art, I think about it in the shower, in class, at work, when I sleep.
Lately, I have been dreaming about seeing my art in big museums, and houses of celebrities. That's
my dream and I want it to become a reality. Growing up I was really only introduced to one genre
of art. Realistic, portrait type drawings was what I grew up on. I believed that was the only type
of aesthetically good art. I matured and became more open to other types of art. My absolute
motivation to go to school is my art class, I can stay in there for hours painting, drawing, etc. I
love when I get really into a piece where I can just work on it and think about other things in my
life, that's what I strive for in every piece I make. I've invested years, months, and hours into my
artwork. Trying out different techniques, and using different medias. At a young age I set goals
for myself to create art at a certain level, and recently I feel that my artwork has been up to the par
that I set for myself. I feel that I will never be satisfied with my skill, and it's something that I have

The more I learn about art in art class the more I pay attention to everything I see. I try to
understand the meaning of each art I see, and what the artist is trying to inform me or to the
world. In the study of art you have to pay attention to every detail in an art work and what color or
shapes he or she used. Of all the art works that I saw in the Museum of Fine Arts, there were three
art works which I preferred out of hundreds of arts works in the museum. The very first art work
that I saw at the museum is one of my favorite ones. The artist that created the art work his name is
Frederic Remington. His art work is an American made in 1861–1909. The painting was made with
oil paint on canvas to make it look shinny. The painting is representational because the three horse
raiders resemble real things from the real world. In this painting Frederic Remington creates
tension by suspending the action at its climax. As the raiders and horses rush headlong into the
viewer's space, the fate of the fallen raider is unclear. While the facial expressions of the raiders
appear calm, the rearing heads and flared nostrils of the horses convey the horror of the scene. His

Throughout history, art has changed and transformed dramatically as empires have fallen and new
civilizations have formed. There have been many different forms of art and extremely different
tastes of art based on which civilization you decide to focus on. According to this opinion, out of
all the different types of art, "the highest form of art is realism." The writer then claims how many
civilizations have undergone intellectual and creative declines when creating unrealistic art. This, of
course, is simply an opinion, but the the thoughts and ideas of this writers bring up many intriguing
questions about art and how society perceives art. First, I will analyze the writer's opinions by

My Reflection Of Art
Art has been something that I have always enjoyed. Whether it be actually creating my own
pieces or admiring pieces from local artist, it has been a passion of mine very early on in my life.
Now before taking Art 102 I never really attempted to dive in deep to the pieces I was admiring; I
never really "decoded" any of the pieces, really. Instead, I would simply snap a quick photo, add a
dark filter that really made the reds stand out, and write a witty quote. This has been my cycle when

"A picture can paint a thousand words." I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a
thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago when I saw this picture in the writing
center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so
enchanted by the painting, I lost the group I was with. When I heard about the observation essay,
where we have to write about a person or thing in the city that catches your eye. I knew right away

The grass was spread out through the whole painting. If you looked hard enough you can see
flowers of pink and red growing within the grass. There were spots of yellow in the grass making
the grass look as though it was dying. Then the painting had a patch of grass that had a very
vibrant shade of green, that made the grass look so alive. The grass had a willowy quality that may
have suggested that there may have been a breeze.
The river also suggested a breeze, there were ripples that flowed southeast. There were many
different shades of blue in the lake and river. The lake had a darker shade of light blue surrounded
by a dark blue then lined with black. The lake appeared to have a light shining either on top or the
bottom of it, which allowed you to see the grass growing under it. The river had a lighter shade of
light blue with white lines to show the ripples but it was surrounded with the same colors as the
lake. You did not see any grass growing under the river because there was no light shining on the
river.

Art. To me is something undefinable, what I want my art to show you is a piece of myself and a

Reading a book can be so influential to a person's mind. When your read someone's story and hear
their own personal thoughts, you get into that person's mindset and you think about things in a way

During my sophomore year, I received a unique and unexpected perspective of my city. Participating
on a school service trip, where I would spend a week fully immersed in the St. Francis Inn
Ministries, I encountered a different side of Philadelphia, one I had never experienced before:
Kensington Ave. It did not have the notoriety of the Art Museum with the Rocky statue adorning the
steps, the rich history of Independence Square with the Liberty Bell or the mouth–watering aromas of
Reading Terminal. Instead, Kensington Avenue was a haven for the homeless, drug addled, mentally
ill and impoverished; certainly never depicted on any visitor brochure or marketing poster for the
"City of Brotherly Love".
Surrounding the Inn was an 8' high chain link fence, the only protection and security from the
violence and crime of the community it served. Despite the sweltering heat, we arrived to see a
line of people, waiting for a hot meal, stretched down the block, their exposed skin coated in a
glaze of sweat, their tank tops and shorts smeared with street grime. One of the many murals
decorating the exterior walls depicted people I eventually met during my stay and I felt a sense of
purpose in being able to give back.

Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and
communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's
views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border

a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more
consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared
to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely
range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If

an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is
easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or
racial notions. But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as
simple.
A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San
Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric,
and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know
that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure,
