2. Three Fountains, which administers Dâmuc commune, Neamţ county is
considered one of the most beautiful villages in Romania. The village at the
foot of the Hasmas mountains, between the counties of Neamt, Harghita and
Bacau, has a majority population of Hungarian ethnicity. The electrical current
arrived here only in 2000
"It is possible to reach the Three Fountains and from the Red
Lake resort, but also through Dâmuc, DC 201 C, made by the
town hall. The area is spectacular from the point of view of the
natural environment, between mountains, inhabited by about
100 families, a large part of Hungarian ethnicity, "says the
Mayor of Dâmuc, Anton Covasan.
3. The village's name comes from the three springs in the area. The
houses of the villagers maintain traditional mountain
architecture and the average temperature is constant both in
winter and in summer around 7 degrees Celsius.
"It is said that the temperature of the air and water is influenced
by a subterranean lake that is under the Hasmas massif, but I do
not know if the hypothesis is scientifically confirmed", says the
mayor.
4. Locals have been somewhat isolated from the benefits of
civilization, with electric power reaching here only 15
years ago. With the utilities, the small businesses
(touristic hostels, two trout, etc.) started to take up the
area. The population is generally engaged in animal
husbandry and wood exploitation.
"Most of them have the roles in the communes of Lunca de Jos,
Hartghita, or Ghimes in Bacau, and they can not attract them to
Dâmuc, unless they want to build something and make their
cadastre at our town hall," he says Anton Covasan.
5. At the boundary of the
Austro-Hungarian Empire
The history of the Three Fountains village is linked to
that of the commune belonging to, Dâmuc. At the
beginning of the eighteenth century, Dimitrie Cantemir
places in the "Descriptio Moldaviae" the present
territory of Dâmuc commune in Moldova, belonging to
the Bisericani Monastery since 1412. The name is
recorded by Valea Dragă.
