2. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With
him, I know a secret comfort and peace. He has
brought me understanding where before I was
ignorant. -Gene Hill
3. A NEW PUPPY
About this time last year I decided I wanted a
labradoodle puppy.
He had to be chocolate colored!
And I would name him Lilo!
There was a lot of research to be done…
I found the perfect little pup in Boston, KY
4. LET THE MADNESS BEGIN!
Brought him home at 8 weeks, over the summer.
Had to potty train him and get him on a schedule
before classes started in the Fall.
He now stays home alone when I am in class.
So far, he has only chewed up a pair of black ballet
flats and a pair of earmuffs…
5. SHARING THE NEWS
I first had to get my boyfriend to agree to getting
him for me…true love right?!
I had to contact the woman who bred them.
My roommate was all for the idea of having a puppy
run around our house 24/7.
Made arrangements to go see him and then go
back and get him.
6. MORE NEWS TO SHARE
At first my parents weren’t crazy about the idea of
me having a puppy on my own at such a young
age.
They now realize he is a blessing in disguise.
I introduced him to all of my family and friends and
they love him a lot.
To quickly spread the word I put many pictures of
him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
7. HOW I TOLD SPECIFIC PEOPLE
When telling my parents---I eased the idea on them
about me having a puppy. “He is so little, he has
my whole house to play in, I’m always home and
can take him out and care for him.”
When talking my boyfriend into getting him for me---
”Oh babe, I need this puppy! He is so cute and he
loves me already! Look at how he cuddles up in my
hands when I hold him! I won’t be able to stop
thinking about how cute he is!”
8. MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE TO TELL!
When telling my friends about him---”Omg you have
to come over and see him so soon! He is so cute
and loves to play and cuddle! He gives kisses and
is so fluffy and perfect!”
9. JOBS GO WITH PUPPIES?!
Even in job interviews---”I must say, I am a very
organized and independent person. I have a dog
who I must walk, feed and clean up after on a daily
basis. He needs as much attention as a child and I
have no choice but to always be there to take care
of him.”
10. Everyone loved meeting Lilo because he is so calm
as well as fluffy. He is very smart too!
When the plumber came to my house a few weeks
ago, Lilo quietly growled at him from across the
room but left him alone and let him get his work
done!
When people come to the door he barks and
sounds ferocious but that’s as bad as he gets. He
may sound big and bad but he definitely isn’t bad!
11. Lilo has taught me many lessons and I know that
we will learn many things in the future. I am very
thankful for him and look forward to getting a
second labradoodle in a couple of years!
