Joel Ray BA MCILT, Head of Consultancy
A career dedicated to strategic consultancy and corporate development in the logistics industry, including a period as
strategic manager with a European Post Office. Particular expertise in distribution property, express logistics and assisting
different vertical sectors developing their logistics strategies. Extensive travel and research throughout Europe, the Middle
East, Americas, India and Asia.
Ken Lyon, Senior IT Analyst
Ken has over 30 years experience across various functions and specialises in the use of advanced information systems to
manage the operations of logistics service providers, transportation companies and port communities. Ken has helped to
establish and develop start-ups concerned with supply chain visibility, analytics and on-line container shipping services. He
spent 10 years as a Director and VP of information services at UPS, also helping to establish its Logistics and supply chain
services Group. He frequently acts as an advisor to commercial organisations and the investment banking community and

Thomas Cullen MSc, Senior Analyst

Steve Wood, Senior Associate Analyst
Steve was previously Managing Director for Northern Europe at UPS Supply Chain Solutions (UPS SCS) from 2002-April
2010. In this role he was responsible for logistics activities in the Nordics, UK, Ireland, and the Benelux, including those
related to warehousing, transportation, freight, spare-parts logistics, and transport management. He was responsible for
annual revenue of approximately $650M. He is now a logistics consultant, having worked on the London Olympics. From 1998
to 2002, Steve was Managing Director for at UPS SCS for the UK, Ireland, and Southern Europe, including France, Spain and
Italy.
Jerome Charlez TRIUM MBA and BA Strategy, Senior Associate Analyst
Jerome advises ecommerce players, global postal companies and government bodies on alternative strategic development.
Previously he was the Chief Ecommerce Officer for GeoPost International, the parcel branch of group La Poste and also in
charge of the strategy and ecommerce offer development for KPG (Kahala Post Group), an alliance that includes some of the 10
largest postal companies in the world. Jerome was as a Strategy consultant with Andersen consulting in the field of
telecommunications, media and entertainment working globally for Fortune 500 companies out from Dubai, London, Bruxelles,
Hong Kong and Geneva.
John Gould, Senior Associate Analyst
John has 25 years experience with major global logistics companies across multiple countries. His skill set is at CEO level
with competence in the financial process, operations, business development and customer service. He was previously
Managing Director, Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia for CEVA Logistics, CEO Saudi Arabia for Agility and Saudi
Arabia Country Manager for UPS.
Stephen Chipping MA, Senior Associate Analyst
Stephen is a senior business professional with a deep knowledge of the supply chain and logistics industry from working for
the top companies in the sector. He has a strong financial background and success in general management. He has held
many senior board level roles and has a depth of expertise covering supply chain management, operational and general
management, strategy (including M&A), finance, tax and treasury, human resources and change. He has a global spread of

Review of European strategy (GE)
GE asked Ti to assist it to reposition its product line in the European market place. Ti undertook a review of the Client’s offering,
investigated the competitive environment and surveyed in excess of 1,500 customers / potential customers in order to gain a better
understanding of their precise requirements and perceptions of the Client. A strategy was then developed on how the Client could best
serve this market.
UK / Irish market Repositioning Exercise (DHL)
The UK and Irish division of DHL Freight asked Ti to help identify a number of potentially attractive vertical sectors that it could target to
generate new, profitable, business. The markets were ranked by attractiveness, based on the Client’s ability to serve them, size of the
accessible markets, barriers to entry, dominance of major 3PLs, etc.
Strategic Re-positioning Exercise (Hoyer Global Logistics)
Ti undertook an in-depth analysis into the global tank container sector, reviewed the financial and operations of the main competitors and
advised the client on how it could best exploit opportunities in the market.
European Network Restructuring (Unilever)
Provided both primary and secondary research in order to assist in the redesign and restructuring of the Group’s European distribution
network.
Detailed Market Sizing Across all EU markets (GeoPost)
Ti has recently completed a major market sizing / share exercise across all EU markets. This project involved extensive interviews in the 10
main countries in Europe and then the use of modelling techniques to extrapolate the data to estimate the size / shares in the remaining 17
markets. Ti estimated the size of the total domestic and international (intra-EU and extra-EU) markets, segmented by TD, DD and differed
as well as B-to-B, B-to-C and C-to-B/C.
Philippines IPO Prospectus (LBC Express / UBS Bank)
Ti travelled to Manila and interviewed a number of local and international logistics companies in order to provide in-depth analysis into the
express and logistics markets in the Philippines. The information obtained during this project has been used to develop an IPO prospectus
for a forthcoming listing of a local express operator.
Advice on Anti-competitive position of UPS / TNT deal (Various Investment Banks)
Ti provided on-going advice to a number of European and US investment banks and PE firms on potential competition issues regarding the
proposed UPS TNT acquisition and what remedies are likely to be required to overcome these.
Chinese and Russian Express Markets – Market Sizing and Competitor Profiling Study (UPS)
Ti assisted a US integrator in sizing the Chinese and Russian express markets. The projects also involved identifying and profiling the key
international and domestic competitors, as well as main originating cities and export channels.

Future Logistics Study (BT)
A review of how the global logistics sector may look in the next five to ten years, based on a number of key trends, and how this is likely to
impact the need and provision of IT and Communications systems. The project involved a number of workshops whereby senior
logisticians discussed a number of potential future scenarios and assed their possible impact on information needs.
Analysis of IT Architecture and Dalian Port (Strategy Marketing Consultancy)
Ti undertook an in-depth analysis of the IT infrastructure at Dalian Port as part of a larger strategic marketing study. The project involved
extensive interviews with users of the port (forwarders, shipping lines, etc.), terminal operators, system developers, and journalists, etc.
Supply Chain Restructuring (Doosan Infracore)
Ti was instructed to advise a major Korean heavy machinery manufacturer on improving its inbound logistics process and to identify, from
investigating best practise in the industry, whether any lessons could be learnt from competitors.
Russian Logistics Market Import Study (Samsung)
Ti undertook an analysis of the Russian logistics market, with particular emphasis on investigating customs procedures and inbound trade
routes, identifying effective legal methods of importing goods into the country.
Restructuring of European Supply Chain (Honda)
Ti provided strategic advice to a major Asian passenger automotive manufacture on redesigning its European supply chain in order to
reduce its logistics costs, improve its assembly capabilities and also increase the speed of new cars produced.
European Network Restructuring (Unilever)
Ti provided both primary and secondary research in order to assist in the redesign and restructuring of the Group’s European distribution
network.
Europe Supply Chain Restructuring (Merck)
Merck asked Ti to assist in the restructuring of its European supply chain. The project involved secondary research in order to identify the
existing networks adopted by key competitors, as well as in-depth interviews with the Client’s main competitors to identify best practise in
the industry.
Review of EMEA Strategy (GE)
GE asked Ti to assist in the repositioning of its product line in the European market place. Ti undertook a review of the Client’s offering,
investigated the competitive environment and surveyed over 1,500 customers/potential customers in order to gain a better understanding
of buying behaviours and perceptions of the Client.

UK / Irish market Repositioning Exercise (DHL) The UK and Irish division of DHL Freight asked Ti to help identify a number of potentially attractive vertical sectors that it could target to generate new, profitable, business. The markets were ranked by attractiveness, based on the Client’s ability to serve them, size of the accessible markets, barriers to entry, dominance of major 3PLs, etc. Strategic Re-positioning Exercise (Hoyer Global Logistics) Ti undertook an in-depth analysis into the global tank container sector, reviewed the financial and operations of the main competitors and advised the client on how it could best exploit opportunities in the market. European Network Restructuring (Unilever) Provided both primary and secondary research in order to assist in the redesign and restructuring of the Group’s European distribution network. The information obtained during this project has been used to develop an IPO prospectus for a forthcoming listing of a local express operator. Advice on Anti-competitive position of UPS / TNT deal (Various Investment Banks) Ti provided on-going advice to a number of European and US investment banks and PE firms on potential competition issues regarding the proposed UPS TNT acquisition and what remedies are likely to be required to overcome these. Chinese and Russian Express Markets – Market Sizing and Competitor Profiling Study (UPS) Ti assisted a US integrator in sizing the Chinese and Russian express markets. The projects also involved identifying and profiling the key international and domestic competitors, as well as main originating cities and export channels.

Russian Logistics Market Import Study (Samsung) Ti undertook an analysis of the Russian logistics market, with particular emphasis on investigating customs procedures and inbound trade routes, identifying effective legal methods of importing goods into the country. Restructuring of European Supply Chain (Honda) Ti provided strategic advice to a major Asian passenger automotive manufacture on redesigning its European supply chain in order to reduce its logistics costs, improve its assembly capabilities and also increase the speed of new cars produced.
