2. Objectives
•To help communities access medical and
surgical care
•To increase visibility of JCI in communities

community-oriented projects

3. Goiter surgery
•Target: 1 patient per chapter
•Operation date:
–15 patients (April)
–15 patients (August)
• Program: August 30, 2017 (Venue: JCI HQ?)
• Cost for Metro area
– 15,000 per leg for food for 50 volunteer health professionals
– 50 token of appreciation per leg
4. How to be eligible
•Age 18 and above with anterior neck mass
•Must have no other diseases, no previous operations
5. What are we sponsoring?
•JCI chapter will sponsor the following

6. Coverage of sponsorship
•For those eligible, JCI will only sponsor 1-4. Post-
operation maintenance medications will not be
sponsored.
•For those who are clinically malignant, JCI will only
sponsor 1-5 and Neck CT scan only. Chemotherapy and
Radiotherapy will not be sponsored.
•For those who are pathologically malignant, JCI will only
sponsor 1-5. Completion operation and RAI will not be
sponsored.
7. Steps
Choosing
patient
• Each chapter will choose 1 patient to sponsor
• Pay Philhealth insurance of your sponsored patient.
• Sign waiver
Pre-
operation
• Bring patient to PGH Surgery clinic for assessment
• Biopsy will be done in PGH. FT4, TSH can be done outside PGH.
• Go to PGH OPD Philhealth office to check requirements
Operation
• Patient will be called for admission 2 days before operation
• Patient usually discharged 2 days after operation
• LENGTH OF HOSPITAL STAY: 5 days
Post-
operation
• Home medications
• Follow-up check up 1 week post op and 2 weeks post-op
