not need a distraction to twist our wrist slightly while
our hands man the steering wheel of the car, to look at
the time. So, to take the same idea taken a step ahead,

is about to debut its iWatch concept very soon. This will be
a smart watch that will have a plethora of sensors and will
tie in with a companion iPhone app to provide a complete
health monitoring system right on our wrists.
Sony’ Core
Sony launched ‘Core’ recently. It’s a small chip that is
designed to integrate with a number of devices. One of the
integrations shown are with a waterproof wristband that
will track our daily physical activity.
Google’s Android Wearables
Google Glass is the gadget that has hogged most of media
attention recently. Google also have other devices under
the umbrella of Google Android Wear. Google have been
trying with many different concepts such as driverless
car, activity trackers, etc. and there is a whole bunch of
devices that theoretically can be run off of the company’s
Android operating system and can integrate with the
Android-powered smartphones such as gloves, helmets,
and so on. Only time will tell which of them will see the
light of the day.
Fitbit-fitness band
Fitbit is a fitness startup that has been made famous by
its iPhone app. Fitbit builds a wristband that tracks our
physical activity, monitors the vital signs and also provide
advanced healthcare functions. These tech gadgets come
in the form of accessories that we can wear on our bodies.
There are other technologies that are currently being used
and are quickly becoming second nature. For example
Google Now and Apple Siri. Both of these are voice-acti-vated
technologies that have a sort of artificial intelligence
that help them learn as we use them. Through these we
can perform most of the functions and gather information
just by talking to our phone. For example, when we say,
“OK Google Now. Call office”, it will dial the office num-ber.
Or, when we activate Siri and ask “Where can I find
a Chinese restaurant nearby?”, it will show us the list of
restaurants where we can get Chinese cuisine along with
directions to reach there.
Now, looking at these different technologies, it is
only logical to combine them and create wearables that
compliment technologies like Google Now or Apple. Thus
we will end up with devices that are voice-activated, and
provide information at-a-glance either through heads-up
display like Google Glass or on our wrist like the iWatch
concept. Whatever be the gadgets that we choose to be
part of our lifestyle, it is guaranteed that this trend will
quickly become mainstream consumer technology in the
foreseeable future.
