•First published on June 6 1981 as a one off supplement in the Sounds
Newspaper.
•Launched monthly, its high demand meant it could eventually be printed
weekly.
•During the 80s and 90s the magazine featured many thrash metal acts (Motley
Crue, Slayer, Bon Jovi) which readers now criticise the magazine for as the
process is repeated when a new music trend becomes popular.
•A survey taken showed that 83% of Kerrang! Readers bought an album as a
direct result of an articles featured in the magazine.
