2. Dorm rooms tend to be small, bare and
bland. This does not set a very cosy
atmosphere for you to live in whilst your
away from home. There are plenty
ways you can bring that home feel to
your dorm room so your stay there is
much more relaxing and content.

3. Where you sleep is the most important part of
your room. Having a good snooze is vital for
your education whilst you are university. It is
best you have a single bed to save space and
with a huge bed you will only feel lonely. You
should invest in a foam topper and a good
pillow to ensure your comfy and bring a
comforter from home to feel the connection.

4. Another easy way to have a little reminder
of home is your mini-fridge. Some colleges
provide you with them already but if they
don’t then get one! You can put little tasty
drinks and treats in there that you would
usually find in your household.

5. Dorm rooms can have a very sterile feel to them.
Windows in dorm rooms tend to be very bland and
boring, you can easily dress them up in some soft
drapes. Don’t go for dark colours at it will make the
room feel smaller and make it harder for you to
wake up in the morning! You can even take a rug
from your bedroom at home and place it next to
your bed in your dorm room.

6. Put up photos around your room of your
family and friends to help the days when
you feel homesick. It is always good to
have one extra seat in your dorm room for
when friends come over, make sure it is a
soft comfortable chair rather than a desk
chair! You can even add a pillow from
home to the chair for that complete feel.
