2. HOMEOPATHIC PHARMACY
Definition:
1: “ it is an art and science of
collecting,combining,compounding,preparing,preservi
ng,and standardizing drugs and medicine from
vegetable,minerals,animal kingdoms and certain
physiological and morbid substances sources.”
2: “The art and science of preparing drugs for use and
dispensing them as medicines”
4. COLLECTION:
it implies to gather or produce the required drug materials. Mostly drug materials are not available in
our country so they are imported from abroad.
IDENTIFICATION:
Before using for preparation drug material must properly be identified
macroscopically and if required microscopically and chemically also.
QUALITY INSPECTION:
only identification of drugs is not sufficient. one must also be sure about the
quality or the characteristics feature of drugs to be used.
PRESERVING:
If required drugs and medicinal preparations should be properly preserved in
accordance with their properties or nature.
STANDARDIZING:
Drugs and medicines which are prepared are made to confirm some standard by
“APPROPRIATE AUTHORITY AND OFFICIAL HOMEOPATHIC PHARMACOPOEIA” so this
process is known as standardizing.
5. COMBINING:
it means joining two or more things and materials
together.
COMPOUNDING:
means uniting two or more different elements
together so as to form new product. this new product having new
properties differ from those of its constituents.
PREPARATION:
in homeopathy it includes the preparation of mother
tincture in solution form or powder form. It also includes preparation
of dilutions. Dilutions are made according to old Hahnemannian
Method or new method of American Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia.
6. QUALITY CONTROL:
it means the medicines and
drugs that are prepared from ingredients are up to the
standard so prescribed in homeopathic
pharmacopoeia.
DISPENSING:
it means preparing and serving the
medicinal preparation in proper form according to the
direction of qualified registered physician .
10. OFFICIAL PHARMACY
Consist of preparation of drugs according to the
process which are prescribed in an official
pharmacopoeia.
EXTEMPORANEOUS PHARMACY
In this branch of pharmacy making or compounding
the medicine on the prescription of medical
practitioners is included.
11. PHARMACOLOGY
In this branch of pharmacy one studies and ascertains
by experiments positive effects of drugs on body both
in health and disease.
PHARMACOGNOSY
It deals with the physical characteristics of crude drugs of
any origin and their identification.
12. PHARMACOPRAXY
It is the art and science by which crude drug substances are
converted into real medicine. This includes weighting ,
measuring , dropping , medicating globules , diskettes , or
tablets.
PHARMACONOMY
It deals with the route of administration of medicine by mouth, nose,
skin, intramuscular, intravenous etc.
PHARMACOPLAXY
It deals with the repetition of medicine already administrated.
