Summarize the role of an RA on Duty
Perform rounds of their building that correlate with the RA Duty Log
Produce a complete RA Duty Log while on duty
Distinguish between Emergency and Work Order student concerns
Identify when to call their RHD or RHD on Duty
Explain the role of the Residential Safety Program desk monitors
3. RA ON DUTY – WHEN IS
THAT?
RA Duty Starts:
At 7pm Sunday – Friday
Weekend Duty: At the discretion of your quad/supervisor
RA Duty Ends:
At 8:30am Sunday – Thursday (When the Quad Office is Open)
Weekend Duty: At the discretion of your quad/supervisor
At 7pm Sunday
*Note: When the Quad Office is closed for Holidays-Duty is 24

4. RA ON DUTY- OFFICE HOURS
Office Hours are from 7pm – 11pm
7 Nights a Week
Tasks to Be Done While in the Office:
Call in to RHD on Duty @ 7pm
Rounds
Clean Office
Sign out equipment/games to residents
Respond to fire alarms (get the vest, floor plan and master key if it sounds and
meet the fire Marshall outside of the building)
Be friendly!
5. ROUNDS – WHAT IS THAT?
During Rounds you do a physical walk of your building, including basements.
You are expected to:
Check fire extinguishers and exit signs
Inspect for any vandalism
Take down and record any illegal postings
Make sure all exterior doors are locked and un-prop doors
Check for maintenance problems, including, blown/missing light bulbs, and water problems, etc.
Greet residents
Listen for any excessive noise
Deliver Hand Delivery Forms to Residents (if applicable)
Confront violations of the Student Conduct Code
Bathroom Walk-Throughs Talk with Residents
6. ROUNDS – WHEN DO I DO
THOSE?Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday
3 rounds
- 7pm (First thing when you get to the office)
-Mid-shift (9ish)
-At the end of your shift (11pm)
Thursday/Friday/Saturday
-Same as above but plus one (Between 1am and 2am)
24 Hour Duty? (Saturday, Sunday, Holidays)
-One extra Round to be done during the day time (before 7pm)
*Additional duty rounds or Duty RAs may be requested of RAs during times
of major events such as homecoming and when concerts are hosted on
campus*

Sunday – Please consult with your RHD and staff for time

PROGRAM (RSP)
Should be at the desk by the main entrance to your building (may
vary in location)
Hours are from 11pm – 3am
There to verify residents of the building and guests
(so we know who is in the building if an emergency were to occur)
Be friendly to them! They are students too!
