This document discusses the effects that social media can have on the audience that local musicians are able to reach. It examines different local music promoters in the area and which social media platforms, like Facebook and Twitter, are best for bands to use to promote their music. The document also explores the differences between viral and organic reach on social media, providing an example of how posts on a Facebook page can generate more reach organically from people seeing it in their newsfeed versus virally from others sharing the post.

There are many different local promotion groups,
for example..
The YPN โ โThe Young Promoters Network consists of
young people, residing in Rhondda Cynon Taff, aged between 14-
25, eager to help arrange live shows and promote young emerging

Exile Music- Exile music is my own project working at promoting local
musicians via reviews on gigs, EPs, tracks and venues. While it is still a
work in progress I am still working very hard on it.

These days I feel that the best way to
share work with a wider audience is
through Facebook and Twitter.
On these sites, it is easy for people to share
things quickly to their friends and this
widens the reach an artist has.
5. Viral and organic reach.

On a Facebook pagesโ post, it will show
the admin how many people have seen it.
It will also tell you how many people that
organically reached.

Organic reach: The number of people
who saw a post in a news feed or on your
page.
Viral reach: The number of people who
saw the post from someone else liking,
commenting or sharing the post and
seeing it from others actions.
