2. Sulphur on an evaporator coil
The well system in this home was not filtering the sulphur from the
groundwater. Air conditioners control temperature by removing “latent heat” in
the form of moisture from the air. When that water/moisture is inundated with
sulphur it can damage the a/c equipment, as well as other parts of the home,
much like chinese drywall does.
3. Slime and sludge in a drain pan
I can’t tell you specifically what this stuff is … only a licensed mold remediator
is qualified to do that. However, I am relatively certain that this vegetative
growth is a living organism that nobody wants growing in the dark, unseen
recesses of their homes!
Regular maintenance & treatment creates an environment unfavorable to the
sustenance and propagation of these organic invaders.
4. Growth on the wires on a blower
motor
Another example of vegetative growth of an undetermined type… spores go
into the air like the pollen off a flower… with the potential to cause severe
allergic reaction. Living organic spores. An air handler is a warm, dark, damp
place … a perfect environment for many types of growths.
5. Growth starting to grow on
evaporator coil
This seriously affects the flow of air, and what might be in it,
throughout your home.
6. Chemical treatment of the primary drain pan and an ultraviolet light (typically in
the return air) are a strong deterrent to the development of the growth of
undesirable types of vegetation.
7. A well maintained air conditioner is not only important
for your comfort … it is critical to you and your family’
s health!
