Dear 2ndGrade Families,
This letter is to explain the vocabulary component of your child’s weekly homework. After
reading this letter, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Students will be introduced to 10 vocabulary words from the Wordly Wise book every other
week. We will spend approximately two weeks learning the words from 1 lesson using a
variety of strategies to encourage recall.
The Wordly Wise homework assigned each week will be very similar from lesson to lesson.
The following table is an example of what you might see on the homework calendar for

meaning
Crossword Puzzle
Create Flashcards – review words and definitions
Create your own sentences using vocabulary words
I will be carefully introducing the homework with your children. Please contact me if you
