video highlighting the issue of "White Woman's Burden" and how it presents itself though out history. The video also includes a solution to the is issue.
2. Basis
Before exploring the concept of “White Women’s Burden”
one must understand a couple of factors before hand. It
is crucial to comprehend the concept of intersectionality
when attempting to understand the complex roles of
individuals and their privileges in societies. The fact that
a person’s sex, gender, class, and race intersect with one
another raises numerous issues that must be resolved
before claiming equality. It is also important to
understand what “White Privileges” exist in a society and
how they give an upper hand to their beneficiaries. Third
of all, grasping how the binaries are drawn between the
“West” and “Rest” would help clarify how the “White
Women’s Burden” came about.
6. How has this notion come to
life?
One of the leading factors that
contribute to a white women feeling
“smugly superior” towards women of
color is White privilege.
7. White Privilege
White privilege is basically all the privileges a person
has by just having white skin color. A person with
White Privileges has the ability to function in a
society without any invincible social construction of
oppression. White Privileges include the access to
education, financial resources, and historical
accreditation.
8. Benefits
In my opinion the best benefit that White privilege
provides is the ability to be judged looked at by
others regardless of your skin color.
As Sayed and Ali mention in their article; one of the
privileges of being White Privileged is being
unaware of these privileges and assume it’s the
norm.

Hardman, a member of the American Humanist Association, spoke
about his experience in Jaqaru and Aymara villages. He
mentioned:
No distinction between male female just human and non-human
Women controlled food market
Men consult women when spending financially
Both have the same rights when it comes to property
Women are responsible for all money
We must learn from these villages instead of imposing our ways
on them.
34. White Savior Complex
According to the University of Kent’s Sayed and Ali’s
article the White Women’s burden can be seen
throughout the globe:
35. South Asian Context:
When the British had an imperial rule of India, white
British women used Indian women as a foil to gauge
their progress towards sophistication. They also
opposed Indian religious rituals that Indian women
themselves willingly take a part of.
36. African Context:
‘Hottentot Venus’ was a case when British colonial
powers transformed a young African into an icon of
racial inferiority and savage female sexuality.
37. Australian Context:
White Australian women would take the children of
Aboriginal Australians away from their families in
order to educate them and raise them to be good
citizens.
38. In Hoffman’s words
“If feminism is about social change, white
feminism—a feminism of assimilation, of gentle
reform and of strengthening the institutions that are
instrumental to economic exploitation and white
supremacy, of ignorance and appropriation of the
work of feminists of colour—is an oxymoron. “
47. As Flora Annie Steel admitted in one of her
nonfictional works, “the Western Woman has quite
as much to learn from the Eastern woman as the
Eastern woman has from the Western”
