3. Executive summary
There are lot of historical place in Barisal division. I want to discuss
about the durga sagor.Every out side people do not know this
place.Every Barisal district people know this place. Durga Sagar,
known locally as Madhabpasha Dighi, is the biggest pond in southern
Bangladesh. It has a total area of about 2500 hectares. The lake is about
11 kilometres (6.8 mi) away from Barisal city. Rani Durgabati, mother
of Raja Joy Narayan, had the pond excavated in 1780. There is a small
island in the middle of the lake.
The dighi is surrounded by trees of various types, which have enhanced
its beauty.winter, thousands of birds including migratory birds throng
this dighi.
Locally it is known as Madhabpasha Dighi. According to a desire of
Rani Durgavati, mother of Raja Joynarayan, the dighi was dug in 1780
(1187 BS). Initially there were four pucca ghats each having 15m width.
Due to the lack of proper maintenance jungles gradually surrounded the
dighi. However in 1975, government renovated it to some extent.
4. Product:
Durga sagor is the most popular historical place in Barisal district. There
are coconut trees around the dighi which together with the dighi are
bounded by brick-walls. There are two gates each on the eastern and
western sides of Durga sagar. The dighi is surrounded by trees of various
types, which have enhanced its beauty.winter, thousands of birds
including migratory birds throng this dighi.
Price:
There are entry fee 30tk free for under 10 age and orphan,freedom
fighter,disability.The special service the one day 1000 tk.
Transportation:
You can go to Barisal by bus or launch. Madhabpasha is just 12
kilometres away from Barisal city. You may go there by legunas or
Chakhar-bound buses.
5. Place:
There are lots of shops in the town catering to Bangladeshi tourists. You
can also check out the local market. You can try some local beauty
products (sandal wood based),It was a quiet and calm place that time.
This large pond is having millions of nicely bloomed White
Snowflakes flower around. I didn't see too many of this flowers at a
time. Also it used to have a nice playground for the migratory birds. But
these days hardly found any such birds from here.

There's a few restaurants along highway Rd and in the local markets,
most serving Bangladeshi standards.
Economics benefits of Bangladesh:
Tourism has become a great source of foreign exchange earning in
Bangladesh.Every year visited this place foreign tourist it is a awesome place . We
have stayed at the Hotel Athena, a handy one from the Barisal town. A single room
did cost us 500 Taka (double bed room is 1000-1200 Taka). And the manager of
the hotel seemed friendly.Madabpasha union many people employee this
dighi.some people do the own food shop,there are lot of item retailer business man.
Bangladesh is renowned for its natural beauty, greenery, archeological and
historical places and hospitality of people. Scope for expansion of world tourism.

6. Conclusion:
Tourism can only contribute for the developing countries of economic, socio –
cultural and environmental progress apparently. In fact, Bangladesh government
needs to keep attention for staggering its strategic planning
