9. Snapshot
Snapshot Capture the State of an Organization at the time of ETL

Snapshot Captures All the active employees at the time of ETL run
It captures the Following information of an employee at time of ETL
Run

Address and location
Salary
9NEOAUG November 2008
10. Snapshot
Snapshot Create a Daily one snapshot (state) of the organization
from day of first ETL Run.
There will be two type of snapshots
Daily Snapshot
Monthly Snapshot
10NEOAUG November 2008
11. Daily Snapshot
Retains 30 snapshot by default
Number of Days in Snapshot can be configurable
Example
If we set the daily snapshot to retain 30 days of history
we start the first ETL on 1 jan 08
Retain the history until 30 jan 08
On 31 jan 08 1 jan 08 snapshot get deleted
Creates 31 jan 08 snapshot
if you see the daily snapshot at the 5 feb 08 the snapshot will have the
data from 6th
jan to 5th
Feb
11NEOAUG November 2008
13. Monthly Snapshot
If Daily Snapshot is configured to 30 days
Monthly Snapshot stores State of Organization Once For Each 30
days
Daily snap shot retains Latest 30 Snap Shots
Example
With Reference to above Example
We will have a entry on 1st
Jan
Next Entry will be created on 31st
Jan
On 31st
of Jan 2 Entries will be there
13NEOAUG November 2008
15. Pros of Snapshot
It give you very good Analytical data
You can easily compare the state of you organization between two
point of times
You can create a trending with the snapshots
You will retain the deleted employee in a snapshots up to the date
they are not deleted
15NEOAUG November 2008
16. Cons of Snapshot
It is Analytical Model not the Reporting model.
Latest Change retained between two ETL
Deleted Records Retained in the Old Snapshots
Snapshots will be build from day of Fist ETL, No Historical Snap
shot on Day one
Effective Dates are Captured Differently
Model will not Capture all Assignment information
By Default no SIT, EIT and DFF are brought over
This Model will not support secondary assignments
16NEOAUG November 2008
17. Events
Event will capture all the events occurred in the HRMS
It Captures following events
Assignment Start
Assignment End
Salary Change Event
Periods Of Service Start
Periods Of Service End
Absence Start
Absence End
17NEOAUG November 2008
19. Pros of Event
All the Event at one place Easy to Reporting.
We can Do Easy reporting on some of the report which are difficult
to get out of ERP (New Hire, Re Hire)
We Can Do Every good Trending
Givens you high level information
Can Build Very good KPI’s
19NEOAUG November 2008
20. Cons of Events
Tracks the count of Event not actual Change.
Example
Salary event tracks the salary change but will not track how much and
what change happened to salary
Assignment change wont track all the changes happened to
assignments
Very good Analytical tool then Reporting.
By Default no SIT,EIT and DFF’s borough over
Secondary assignments not supported
20NEOAUG November 2008
21. Customizations Can be….
Custom Security Model
Extending the model to get the assignment information
