2. Disaster Caused By Plastic
Plastics are used and thrown casually by many people regularly, but these are
causing serious detrimental effects on our health and also on the
environment. The thrown plastics create blockage of drainage system, covers
the river and sea bottom. These exert toxicity on the life of all land and marine
animals and birds. The urban as well as rural people of India are accustomed
in use of plastics leaving the cheap bio-degradable alternatives. The micro
and nano-plastics are reaching at our tissue level through food and water for
which we may have to pay a huge cost in future.
3. Case Study On Use Of Plastic Waste
As per data from 2019, metropolitan cities like Chennai,
Bengaluru and Delhi contribute to more than 50% of the
plastic waste deposition.
The current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic has
aggravated the issue with large amounts of plastic and
medical waste being disposed of carelessly.
A Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) report from 2018-
19 puts the total annual plastic waste generation in India at a
humongous 3.3 million metric tonnes per year.
4. More than half of the plastic waste (approx.60%) goes in
for recycling whereas the rest of it goes unpicked in the
natural environment
The Changing Markets Foundation stated that as of 2020,
Coca-Cola was the largest plastic footprint on earth with
2.9 million metric tonnes of plastic packaging produced
annually. While Pepsico, came second with 2.3 millon
metric tonnes of plastic waste.
5. Steps which can be taken to present the
use of plastic.
Carry a reusable bottle
Say no to plastic straws
Say no to disposable plastic cutlery
If you go shopping, remember to take a cloth bag
Replace plastic Tupperware for glass or steel
containers
Pay attention and put your plastic waste in the
correct recycling container
6. 1)We can use clothing bags instead of polythene bags.
2)We can reduce the combustion of polythene in open
air.
3)We can dispose off our garbage into classified manner
like biodegradable and non-biodegradable. So, non-
biodegradable type of garbage can be treated as it
should be.
7. How would we contribute to plastic ban
Take those around you aware of the importance of
reducing the consumption of plastic
As a student I can help to reduce the use of plastic in
many ways:
Avoiding to use Plastic bag instead use an ecofriendly
resuseable bag.
Avoid use of plastic tiffin, water bottle, straws and
instead use stainless steel.
8. Conclusion
Reducing plastic use Is important to prevent
pollution Because plastic has Highest number of of
waste in the entire world .
With the lowered rate of plastic usage we can also
lessen the effect of pollution in our environment
This practice will keep our environment and
surrounding safe and clean.
