Dear Sir or Madam:
It is my pleasure to recommend Ms. Miao Yumeng, one of the best students that I have
encountered in my teaching career, to the graduate program of your respected
university. I taught Ms. Miao Public Finance and Taxation in 2007 for one semester and
her outstanding performance in my class left a deep impression on me.
Although more than 200 students attended my class, I came to notice her in my first
class. When I asked the students to give a 10-minute speech of any topic, many
students preferred to give the speech in the next class after some preparation.
However, Ms. Miao walked to the platform and delivered a wonderful speech about
her hometown, which won warm applause from the whole class.
Ms. Miao always arrived early to take a seat in the first row and interacted with me
actively in my lectures. Ms. Miao was good at discovering problems and displayed
strong learning and research ability to use her acquired knowledge to solve real social
issues, such as the necessity of more public expenditure on education, healthcare and
welfare, the advantages and disadvantages of private investment to the freeway
construction, rent seeking activity, and suggestions on the reform of the funding
guarantee system for rural compulsory education. As a result of her excellent
performance, she got 91 in the final exam, ranking probably top the 5% in a class of
more 200 students.
Meanwhile, I also know that Ms. Miao was a student cadre in charge of finance
management in the Youth Volunteer Association of our college. In the past, she has
participated in the organization and planning of many volunteer activities. In 2007, she
participated in the Mother’s Water Cellar activity to seek donations to build a water
cellar to help the people in the southwestern water-shortage area of China. Her
dedication to the public welfare is praiseworthy as for young people.
Based on my knowledge about Ms. Miao, I think she is able to excel in whatever she
plans to do. I support her application to your esteemed university without any
reservation. Should you need further information about her, please feel free to contact
me.
Yours sincerely,
Ni Zhiliang,
