1) Malaysia is prone to flooding due to heavy rainfall and deforestation which prevents absorption of excess water.
2) To prevent flooding, Malaysia cleans drains, plants trees, uses permeable roads and creates flood plains and swales to store water.
3) Malaysia implements prevention, preparedness, response and recovery phases when dealing with floods.

3. Causes of Malaysia’s floods
There are mainly two reasons why Malaysia has flooding, in low land areas near the sea.
Mass deforestation and urban development Heavy rain
The destruction of many areas of trees stops the
trees roots from absorbing the excess water from
rains. The development of roads to buildings
prevents the rain water from reaching the earth,
since the tar roads are impermeable, which means it
does not allow water to seep in.
Malaysia is surrounded by the sea
and is near the equator, so the
weather is often quite humid. Lots
of sea water are being evaporated
and turned to clouds. Much of the
heavy rain is from monsoon
regime.
4. How to prevent flooding
There are three types of flooding, flooding in river banks, flooding due to heavy rainfall and low-lying
areas near the seas which high tides may form.
One way to prevent flooding in Malaysia is by cleaning and preventing the drains and rivers clear of
pollution.
The most common way of preventing floods are to plant more trees, since Malaysia has cut down
many rainforests to make buildings.
The roads can be made to be permeable so rain water can pass through the road and enter the
ground.
By creating more flood plains and swales so excess rain water can either return to the ocean or be
stored and filtered.
6. Four Phases
Malaysia has implemented four phases or four steps to prevent floods or when a flood occurs.

7. Conclusion
Although Malaysia does not have the strongest flood protection system, it is still capable to
perform a good protection over flooding, including the flood prevention strategies.
If Malaysia starts implementing more flood prevention by planting more trees or making
permeable roads and other flood prevention methods. Malaysia may have a higher chance at
protecting its people, culture and diversity.
As of now Malaysia is prepared to correctly handle a flood if it happens and will learn new varies
techniques to stop floods from happening ever again.
8. The importance of tourism in Malaysia
Tourism not only helps improve the popularity of our country it also invites new people to
discover the hidden wonders in Malaysia and support its culture and diversity.
PROS
New jobs can be formed as stalls for tourists spring up. The money that tourists use for shops can be
used to make new buildings such as the twin tower.

9. Popular Places
Here are three popular tourists attractions in Malaysia.
PETRONAS Tower Batu Caves, Selangor Mount Kinabalu, Sabah
The PETRONAS Tower is the
tallest twin tower in the world. It
reached 452 meters high and has
88 floors with 76 elevators.
In the Batu Caves there are three
main caves and several smaller
ones, the caves contain statues
and outside the cave there is a
Hindu god.
Mount Kinabalu is the tallest
mountain in Malaysia, standing 4,000
meters high. You can find Kinabalu
Park, the oldest park in Malaysia.
10. Problems of tourism in Malaysia
Although tourism is good at promoting a country there are problems accounting for this.
Cons
For example the pollution of Beaches on the coast, deforestation to make new facilities, High
inflation of produce and the fear of the destruction of important cultural heritage sites.
Polluted beach Inflation in Malaysia’s
economy
11. Areas affected by tourists
Polluted beaches caused by
tourism and pollution of the
sea.
The before and after of one
building. Its destroyed due to
making space for building
more facilities for tourists.
Mass deforestation to use for
making new buildings for tourists
and space for making them.
12. Conclusion
Tourism in Malaysia would be doing well, if it continues to expand its popularity around the globe
Malaysia would earn a lot from tourists and could use the money for helping Malaysia grow
stronger as a country.
But the problems with tourism would arrive as well. Many important areas could be damaged
and the deforestation problem in Malaysia is quite severe so Malaysia needs to learn to improve
and know the situation could be dire if ignored.
If Malaysia could overcome this problem, Malaysia would use the money to improve on other
Malaysians well being restoring other heritage sites and solve its deforestation problems.
Malaysia would be a stronger country.
