2. -When I'm Gone" is a song by American hip hop musician Eminem, featured
on his 2005 compilation album Curtain Call: The Hits. When released as a
single on December 6, 2005, the song charted at number eight on the
American Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, number 22 on the Hot Rap
Tracks chart, number four on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the
Australian ARIA Singles .
-When I’m Gone is a song about Eminem’s Careers and how its effects his
relationship with his wife Kim. It talks about his daughter Hailie and how he
wasn’t there for her, She confronts him in Sweden and wants to know why he
was so mean to his wife Kim. She ends the confrontation by telling Eminem
that he loves his fame, career, and fans more than his own family. after she
leaves, Eminem turns around and sees a gun. He picks it up, screams "Die
Shady!" and shoots his Slim Shady alter-ego. After that, he wakes up, realizing
that it was only a dream. It's spring, Hailie's playing in the yard, and he kisses
Kim.
3. Beginning
• At the Beginning we see Hailie showing Marshall something she has made and he
has no time for her and tells her to go play. This connotes that his song writing is
more important to him than his own daughter as he tells her he I busy and to go
away.
• Hailie blocks the door up with boxes to stop Marshall leaving. She wants him stop
singing and gives him a locket before he leaves. This connotes that she loves her
dad and doesn’t want him to go. We see Marshall leave his bedroom door and
enter the stage and begin rapping to his fans in Sweden. Just after it finish's he
sees Hailie in the audience.
4. The video When I’m Gone cuts to the beat of the music. Each clip is timed
perfectly to start or finish on the beat of the music. From the video we see
Marshall with his daughter Hailie and how he abandons her and his wife
Kim for his fans. This shows he prefers his career over his family and is
fighting his alter ego. When Hailie turns up in Sweden, Marshall raps
about how he left them and he said he would come back, but from Hailie's
point of view. At 4:05 Hailie lips sinks with the music and the camera cuts
between her and Marshall which creates a disappointment towards
Eminem at as he has let his daughter and family down. We can that Hailie
is disappointed with her dad, and we soon see Eminem, Kim and Hailie by
the swings happily because he has realized what he has done, and killed
his alter-ego.
Middle
5. At 4:42 we see Marshall realise he has done something wrong. “ The curtain is closing
on me “`after his concert he is backstage looking in the mirror, We see Marshall
standing looking into the mirror but his alter ego looking back. He punches the
mirror breaking his alto ego .He wakes up and we see it was all just a dream and
see him with his family playing on the swings.
