2. CELEBRATING OUR
TEAM MEMBERS AND
VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR
Westminster Communities of Florida is privileged to
have many wonderful team members and volunteers who
consistently âstretchâ to serve our residents. Each of our Team
Members of the Year and Volunteers of the Year express the
heart behind our Mission. We are delighted to shine the
spotlight on these exceptional people tonight.
The Creating Legends Program was developed to help
managers âcatch our team members in the actâ of providing
Legendary Service to our residents, their family members,
and co-workers. 642 team members were caught in the act
of providing Legendary Service during 2022. It is our great
pleasure to have the best of the best here tonight â our Team
Members of the Year.
Our volunteers are a vital part of our communities. We
had almost 3,500 volunteers to help at the communities
during this past year. They served over 200,000 hours, which
is equivalent to the work of more than 96 full-time team
members. We are honored to have our Volunteers of the Year
with us this evening.
Tonight, at our Annual Awards Celebration, please join us in
personally congratulating our distinguished honorees. We are
very proud to have them as part of the Westminster family.

TOUCHING LIVES
THROUGH SERVICE
We are so thankful for our volunteers.
They contribute thousands of hours in our
communities, improving the lives of our
residents, and weâre so blessed to have them.
Itâs our pleasure to recognize their
contributions today.
4. Mary Blickem
Mary can be found putting up fliers,
delivering groceries for fellow residents,
helping with resident wellness checks,
and even assisting at the front desk. She
loves to help in any way she can. Mary
always has a smile on her face and often
mentions how thankful she is for her
friends and how much she appreciates
the team members at our community.
We are blessed to have Mary as a resident at Westminster
Asbury and appreciate everything she does to help those
around her.
Jane Blocker
Jane knows everyone by name and
greets them with a smile. She is a joy to
be around and is very active as secretary
of the Resident Council, as a member
of the Health Services, Welcoming
and Playreaders committees, and even
helping with the resident directory,
ensuring that everyoneâs information
is up-to-date. She is a volunteer in
Nursing Care and Assisted Living, and took a special role in
fundraising for the Memory Support neighborhood.
We are grateful for Janeâs willingness to help her neighbors.
JoAnne Arnold
JoAnne makes our community a
wonderful place to call home. In her
year and a half as a resident, she has
already organized a fashion show,
a Fifties Party, and started hosting
luncheons for six, inviting different
groups of residents to her home so they
can get to know one another better.
A true inspiration to our community,
JoAnne is now well-known for her hospitality, her cooking
and her flair for theater and social life. Itâs just another way
she is a wonderful neighbor as well as a great volunteer.
Simona Cuello
Simona is an active volunteer at our
food pantry, helping fellow residents in
need. She goes above and beyond on
many occasions, is very welcoming to
new residents, and includes all of her
fellow residents in activities. Simona
encourages residents to participate
as long as there is something to do or
someone who needs her assistance.
A long-time dancer, Simona shares her love of music and
theater with those around her. We thank her for sharing her
warm personality and kindness as a volunteer.

6. Cathy Milburn
As a retired nurse, Cathy has spent her
whole life serving others. Since 2015, she
has been highly involved as a volunteer,
managing our gift shop, helping with
blood pressure testing, supporting
Quality of Life Surveys for Nursing Care
and Assisted Living, and contributing
in countless other ways. To top it all off,
for many years, she has volunteered to
decorate our common areas for Christmas.
Cathy brings great joy and well-being to the residents and
team members of Westminster Palms.
Jo Ann Moore
Jo Ann has often been described as a
real gem. She navigated stressful times
as President of our Resident Council,
and exhibited grace under pressure,
compassion, understanding, forgiveness
and diplomacy. In addition to her work
in our community, she knits hats and
scarves for others in need.
Jo Ann always encourages others and
is always willing to say, âI can help with that!â Her smile and
laugh are contagious and she lights up any room she is in. We
thank her for making our community a better place to live.
Eugene Morgan
We are so grateful to have had Eugene
as a volunteer for the last three years.
Eugene became our donated-food
delivery person when a former resident
moved away, and he says that he likes
that it allows him to socialize with his
neighbors. He is the âGood Neighborâ
for his floor, which includes daily checks
on fellow residents, posting flyers and
memos and handing out newsletters.
Eugene is always looking for ways he can support his
neighbors. Thank you for all that you do, Eugene!
Albert and Darlene Oosterhof
Al and Darlene have dedicated
their time, talents, and energy as
volunteers. From sharing their voices
as part of Westminster Singers, to
assisting in the refurbishing and
maintenance of the Victory Garden,
their commitment to our community
is invaluable. This dynamic duo
advocated for and spearheaded a major
traffic improvement on the road leading to our community,
improving the safety of residents, team members and guests.
We appreciate their boundless dedication to our community!

7. Ron Palmer
Ron is dedicated, thorough,
responsible and very approachable. He
took on responsibility for the gardening
behind Village 4, purchasing and
caring for the plants and the patio, and
beautifying our community on his
own accord. Ron helps his neighbors
by taking them to appointments, to the
pharmacy and to the grocery store. He
even visits fellow residents to help raise their spirits.
For all of these reasons and more, Ron is our Volunteer of
the Year. Thank you!
Collette Rance
We first found Collette as an
insurance resource for our neighbors.
It wasnât long before she became part
of the College Arms Towers family of
volunteers, where her helping spirit has
made us stronger together. She helps
with activities, and is happy to help
provide food and prizes. She also hosts
Bingo every second Tuesday, and helps
residents with their insurance and open enrollment questions.
We appreciate Collette for giving her time to support our
community!
Gladys Pearson
Gladys is a very active, talented and
kindhearted spirit who helps however
she can as a volunteer. We appreciate
her dedication to our Eldercare
Program, which provides meals for
residents in need, and her commitment
to ensuring that if she is away, someone
else is available to help. She also worked
with our Service Coordinator to clean
up our files, an important but normally thankless task.
Our hats are off to Ms. Gladys for caring so much for her
neighbors and for our community!
Peter Rapisarda
Peter has been dedicated to
beautifying our community since he
moved to Westminster Canterbury
nearly 10 years ago. He helps water
plants, removes plant waste, and
tends to nature and the gardens.
When Community Support Services
team members created a beautiful
new garden, Peter was ready to start
watering the plants and nurse them to beauty. He also
volunteers with community dinners and other resident events.
Our community is more beautiful becuase of Peterâs efforts!

8. Kathy Rowe
Kathy makes items for our card
shop, including face masks, kitchen
scrubbies, potholders, stuffed animals,
lap blankets, wheelchair and walker
bags and more, all for the benefit of the
Westminster Suncoast Team Member
Appreciation Fund. She is the Chorus
Librarian and ensures we are ready for
rehearsals and performances each week.
Often the first one to arrive and the last one to leave, Kathy
is incredibly dedicated to making Westminster Suncoast a
wonderful place to live.
Leanne Spletzer
Leanne is constantly improving life at
Westminster Shores. She is the publisher
of the resident-produced newsletter,
the secretary of the Service Club, chair
of the Resident Councilâs Nominating
Committee and much more. She
performs 80-90 hours of volunteer
service every month and still finds time
to volunteer for other organizations, like
USA Swimming and the Connecticut Realtorsâ Association.
Leanne is a leader in our community and we thank her for
her service.
Michael Sauls
Each day, Michael brings a smile to his
fellow residents and finds new ways to
help others. He walks neighborâs dogs
while they are under the weather or out
of town, or takes fellow residents to the
grocery store, and finds ways to assist
them and brighten their day.
Between cracking jokes, hosting
movie nights, bringing in heavy parcels
or groceries, and countless other small acts of service, he
is the first to offer a helping hand. We thank him for his
dedication to supporting his neighbors and our community.
Karen Taylor
Karen supports our whole community
on the Resident Council and Courtyard
Focus Committee, and even serves on
our Chapel Services Committee. She
also leads weekly hymn sings in both
Assisted Living and Nursing Care, and
when we no longer had a local pastor
to lead vesper services, she took the
task on herself and recruited other
volunteers. Karen is dedicated to ensuring that the spiritual
life of our community is healthy.
Thank you for making our Mission your own, Karen!

9. Scion Westfall
Among Hugh Ash Manor residents,
Scion is known as one of the âgo-to
helpersâ whenever someone needs
assistance. She is happy to provide
transportation to appointments, the
grocery store and the pharmacy for
those whose mobility is limited, and
cares for her neighborâs pets when
they may be unable. Scion assists with
landscaping and keeps our garden campus beautiful. She does
it all with characteristic good cheer.
Thank you for making our community a better place to live!
Debra White
A disabled Army veteran, Debra saw
a need to support other residents and
jumped in to help at our hospitality
desk. She does an outstanding job
ensuring visitors are welcomed and that
packages get to the right location. Debra
delivers Meals on Wheels to residents,
stopping to chat and brighten their day.
Debra is dedicated to supporting
fellow veterans and continues to work with veteran-focused
events, such as the Klingenstein Jewish Centerâs annual
âStanddownâ event hosted for homeless veterans.

10. One resident arrived for dinner and
was told there would be a wait. Radiance
saw they were disappointed and quickly
said, âGive me a minute and let me see
what I can do.â She then escorted them
to their table and even had appetizers
waiting for them, turning a potentially
disappointing event into a wonderful
one.
Weâre thankful that Radiance goes above and beyond to
make residentâs experiences special, and working her âmagic.â
Whether itâs a hurricane, a pandemic
or an ordinary day, Deborah ensures
residents are supported. She is willing to
step in and assist, help set up for events,
and even did laundry during the worst
of the pandemic, all of which are outside
her responsibilities as a bus driver.
Deborah places high importance
on the safety of our residents and the
positive experience that people have at our community. We
are grateful for her dedication.
Wendellâs dedication to the residents
we serve is remarkable. Wendell goes
above and beyond the Seven Habits of
Legendary Service every day. He goes
out of his way to ensure that tasks are
done timely and with the needs of our
community first. Wendell also lends a
hand to any team members who need it,
whether itâs delivering food for Dining
Services or volunteering his time to set up for our luminary
walk. Thank you for your commitment to our community!
Tibi is an inspiration to us. She
mentors new team members,
introducing them to their new roles
and routines. There is nothing she will
not do and all her tasks are done with
precision. She looks for opportunities
to make her interactions memorable,
including visiting them in the hospital
and even supporting our emergency
evacuation last year. Tibi always has a positive attitude and
residents request her by name.

11. When Hurricane Ian hit Florida, Ning
â we call her âDMâ â stayed overnight
to help. She was tirelessly assisting
residents with a calm demeanor that
assured them everything would be fine.
She has a knack for communicating
the concerns of residents and
team members and improving
communication within our team.
DM is helpful, thinks ahead and assists as needed, without
being asked. Thank you, DM!
Jillian has a great understanding of the
workflows and processes at Westminster
Pharmacy Services, and her problem-
solving skills are truly exceptional. She
takes on challenges and uses them to
make us better. Recently she even took
on responsibility for medical records
during a fellow team memberâs leave,
and did an outstanding job.
Weâre thankful that Jillian is excited to learn and help us
grow, so we can improve the quality of service we offer.
In the last year, Vicki received seven
awards for service, for helping with
hurricane evacuations and emergency
care situations, and for being incredibly
supportive to her team and the residents
we serve. She exhibits the Seven Habits
of Legendary Service each day.
Over her more than 10 years of service
she has become an indispensable part
of the Assisted Living team at Westminster Manor. We are so
thankful that the residents in Assisted Living have Vicki.
Markâs first priority is always the
residents and team members. He is
adept at identifying solutions to issues,
looking for opportunities to promote
from within and grow skills to make
our communities stronger. Mark
was nominated by residents, other
executives and medical professionals.
We thank Mark for making our
communities outstanding places to live and work.

12. We have received numerous
compliments from residents about
Carlos. He is courteous, respectful, a
great problem solver who is keen to
the residentsâ needs. This has not gone
unnoticed: In the last year he has been
nominated for 12 recognition awards for
on-the-job excellence and for his work
ensuring our communityâs safety during
and following Hurricane Ian. We are proud to have Carlos as
a team member at Westminster Point Pleasant!
The only thing Josh doesnât do at our
community is drive the bus! He happily
fills in wherever he is needed and the
residents are so pleased with his work.
One wrote to thank Josh for fixing her
air conditioner, saying that he had done
an exceptional job.
Josh is dedicated to the residents we
serve and takes on additional shifts
to ensure our community is safe and well-maintained. We
appreciate his commitment!
Jasmine started as a Server at
Westminster Suncoast, and was soon
recognized for her stellar performance.
She was promoted to Dining Captain,
then to her current role. One resident
wrote, âShe is exceptional. It is obvious
from observing her that she approaches
her responsibilities with seriousness,
capability and pride.â Thank you,
Jasmine, for your dedication to making the dining experience
outstanding for everyone at our community!
Rocco has taken our Dining Services
team to a new level and creates
enjoyable culinary experiences. He
established âheat-and-serveâ holiday
meals for residents and team members,
which was recognized for its innovation
in a national magazine. During the
pandemic, he created a virtual âPop-Up
Shopâ for residents and team members
to order food, beverages and supplies. Residents appreciate his
leadership and their dining experiences. Thank you, Rocco!

13. Shirley works her magic in
the Underwood Assisted Living

as the âShirley Shift.â Residents are
delighted with her since she became a
CNA after working as a phone operator.
One resident wrote: âShirley is always
dependable, conscientious, thoughtful
and upbeat. She remembers everything
that you need and she can handle it.â We appreciate Shirley for
her love and care for the residents we serve!
Xavier has made a positive impact
on residents and team members at
Westminster Winter Park! He never
says, âI donât know,â or âThatâs not my
job,â and offers assistance wherever he is
needed. Xavier received 11 recognitions
from residents and team members for
his kindness and helpfulness, including
a Legendary Service Award for helping
a fellow team member who was injured in an accident. We
appreciate him for always going the extra mile.
With more than 20 years of service,
Chevetta is an integral part of our
Nursing team and community. She
has a positive attitude and happily
helps other departments with their
needs, going above and beyond. Over
the last 20 years, she has received 11
