Congratulations! You have been selected to attend the Community Police Academy sponsored
by the Los Angeles Police Department, Operations-Valley Bureau. The first session of the
eight- week course is on Thursday, July 09, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The graduation
will be held on August 27, 2015. The academy will be held at the Edward M. Davis Training
Facility located at 12001 Blucher Avenue, Granada Hills, in the Bomb Squad Room.
The academy course schedule covers a variety of subjects, allowing community members to gain
a better understanding of the challenges and rewards of being a Police Officer in the
City of Los Angeles. Among the topics to be covered are the goals and objectives of community
policing, California criminal and vehicle law, LAPD use of force policy, gang enforcement, and
vice investigations. Participants will have an opportunity to meet and speak with Area and
Operations-Valley Bureau Commanding Officers. At the conclusion of the academy, each
attendee will receive a graduation certificate in their name.
