business,butalsoforarts andculture.Many cultural andartisticinitiativesbloomandthrive independentlyfrom

The Concept
On a specificdate, all cultural,artisticcenters,restaurants,bars,hotelsandother participatingvenues and
individualswill presenttheirprogramandactivitiesunderanagreedcommon topicor theme andcelebrate arts
and culture inthe city underthe same motto.
The CULTURAL STOPOVERS modalitywill bundle all the programsandactivitiesandproduce avirtual
map/circuit/networktopromote themtogether.This will make itmore attractive toaudiences,participants,
sponsors andmediaas theybecome partof somethingmuchbiggerthantheirowninitiative.

Costs:
Each participatingcultural center, venueorindividual will elaborate andwill be fullyresponsible fortheirown
eventsandactivitiesduringthe day.Asmanyof them are alreadyestablishedandhave ongoingprograms, the
additional costwill dependon the discretionaryinvestment eachone of the participantswould like tomake in
orderto seize the opportunityof beinga CULTURALSTOPOVER.
Each of the participantsalso hastheirownclientele,followersanddatabaseswhichtheyare expectedtoinform
aboutthe day throughtheirtraditional andregularchannels. However,astheywill promotethe jointprogram,
theywill be able toreachout to a much wideraudience andmultiplythe effectandconveningpower.
Finally,the productionof ajointprogramand the promotionthroughnewspapers,TV andradioshouldnot
generate muchof additional costs,particularlyif asponsorcanbe foundto take care of printing,audio-visual
productionandonline marketing.
CULTURAL STOPOVERS isintendedtobe a yearlyoeverytwoyearsbase event.
The “CULTURAL STOPOVERS” is an opportunity to open your venue to the public and you will set
the terms how to do it .. for example, you can have workshops offer by a group of artisans, guided tours,
Art exhibitions, concerts, Salsa night etc. in your premises. (is up to you if you charge or not).. if you
participate you will be branded as the Cultural stopovers and included in the initiative map to make the
whole city aware of what your business is all about and promote Kenya as a safe place to visit.
The activities will start from 8am so must of the art centres, Shopping centres ,galleries, cultural &
artisan centres, souvenir shops, community services centres, touristic venues ( Giraffe centre, Carnivora
etc..) will set workshops and cultural activities on their respective venues during day time and hotels,
bars, restaurants, theaters etc.. will offer their regular entertainment, cultural and artistic events during
the evening.. all under the Theme " Arts & Cultures Take Nairobi for a Day".
This is a great opportunity to attract for a day the international media with the positive face of Nairobi.
