FIRST SERVE
The Lady Buffs wrap-up their Lone Star Conference road
swing on Tuesday night as they head to Odessa, Texas to
take on the Falcons of UT Permian Basin with first serve set
for 6 p.m. at the Falcon Dome.
UT PERMIAN BASIN
The Falcons enter the week with an overall record of 12-11
with a 7-7 mark in Lone Star Conference play following a
four-set loss at Cameron on Friday night before rebounding
with a sweep of MSU Texas on Saturday afternoon in Wichita
Falls. UTPB is 5-1 this season inside of the Falcon Dome.
UTPB is guided by fourth year head coach Tim Loesch who
took over the program back on March 10, 2015. Loesch
has registered an overall record of 32-75 during his time in
Odessa.
The Falcons are led offensively by Skyler Friel who has
registered 219 kills (2.55/set) on 482 swings with 48 errors
to hit .355 on the season, Analise Lucio paces the UTPB
offense with 427 assists to average 5.08 per frame while
Sarah Vasquez leads the way defensively with 324 digs
(4.50/set).
UTPB enters the week with 1,006 kills on 3,158 attempts to
go along with 487 attack errors to hit .164 offensively as a
team with 937 assists, 112 service aces, 1,410 digs and 168.0
total blocks to average 2.0 per frame so far this season.
THE SERIES
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Falcons,
9-0 dating back to the 2006 season with WT taking the first
meeting between the two teams back on September 21st
in Canyon in straights sets. The Lady Buffs are 2-0 all-time
in Odessa.
THE LAST MEETING
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit .327 as a team in the
opening frame and never looked back as they snapped a
three-game losing skid in a sweep of the visiting Falcons
of UT Permian Basin in straight sets during Lone Star
Conference action at the WTAMU Fieldhouse “The Box” in
Canyon.
The Lady Buffs registered 55 kills on 144 attempts with
22 errors to hit .229 with 55 assists, one service aces, 84
digs and eight blocks. WT was led offensively by Michaela
Montgomery with a match-high 15 kills on 33 swings with just
one attack error to hit .424 on the night followed by Taylor
Kress with 12 kills, Selena Batiste registered another double-
double with 34 assists and 12 digs while Chandler Vogel led
all players with 23 digs on the night.
UT Permian Basin finished the match with 36 kills on 146
swings with 17 attack errors to hit .130 as a team with 35
assists, four aces, 58 digs and 12 total blocks in the win.
Skyler Friel finished the night with 14 kills on 25 swings with
just three attack errors to hit .440, Analise Lucio dishout out
a team-high 18 assists while Sarah Vasquez led the way
defensively with 19 digs.
LAST TIME OUT
The #13 TexAnns of Tarleton hit .312 as a team to run
their win streak to 20 matches on Saturday afternoon in
Stephenville against the visiting West Texas A&M Lady Buffs
at Wisdom Gym South in Lone Star Conference action.
The Lady Buffs registered 27 kills on 128 attempts with 12
errors to hit .117 with 26 assists, four service aces, 54 digs
and six blocks. WT was led offensively Sydnee Johnson with
seven kills on 33 swings with five attack errors to hit .061 on
the afternoon followed by Lindsey Smith, Destiny Jones and
Julia Borschel with four each. Selena Batiste dished out 17
assists in the loss while Chandler Vogel had 13 digs.
Tarleton finished the match with 53 kills on 128 swings with
13 attack errors to hit .312 as a team with 48 assists, four
aces, 73 digs and four blocks in the win. TSU was offensively
by Hannah McManus with 14 kills on 19 swings with no errors
to hit .737 on the afternoon, Blanca Izquierdo paced the TSU
offense with 28 assists while Adrianna Knutson had 17 digs.

HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home
environments in all of NCAA Volleyball, in any division. The
WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as “The
Box,” is home to 19 Lone Star Conference Championships,
13 Regional Titles and three NCAA Division II National
Championships. “The Box” boats one of the best home win-
ning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The
Lady Buffs are 475-77 at The Box since the 1980 season for
an incredible winning percentage of 86.2%.
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, a four-time LSC Coach of
the Year, is now in his 10th season at the helm of the Lady
Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 410-102 (.802,
13th year) including a 274-82 (.771) mark in Canyon. Skoch
has led the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA
Postseason with three South Central Regional Titles and a
National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

2018 LSC PRESEASON POLL
Angelo State picked up eight of the possible 30 first place
votes for a total of 304 points to sit atop of the poll followed
by the Lady Buffs who received 10 first place votes for a
total of 282 points. Tarleton ranked third with 277 points
(seven first place) followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (four
first place, 263), Texas Woman’s (197), Texas A&M-Kingsville
(191), Eastern New Mexico (133), MSU Texas (100), Western
New Mexico (98), Cameron (80) and UT Permian Basin (one
first place, 55).
2,500 ASSIST CLUB
West Texas A&M junior setter Selena Batiste continues to
make her way up the program’s all-time assists leaderboard
as the Portland, Oregon native joined the 2,500 Assist
Club on Saturday, September 22nd in a sweep of Western
New Mexico in Canyon. Batiste enters the week with 2,709
career assists to rank seventh all-time in program history as
she sits 83 assists behind Erin Houlihan (2,792 / 2004-05)
for sixth place.
1,000 CAREER DIGS
WT sophomore libero Chandler Vogel became the newest
member of the 1,000 Career Dig Club on Tuesday, October
16th against Eastern New Mexico at The Box in Canyon.
The Hereford native reached the plateau during her 59th
career match as a Lady Buff.

87CONSECUTIVE LSC VICTORIES - The Lady Buffs own
the second longest streak of consecutive wins against conference
opponents in NCAA Division II history. WT claimed 87 straight wins
against the Lone Star Conference between September 8, 2006 and September
13, 2011. During that five-year span, the Lady Buffs claimed five Lone Star
Conference Championships and made three appearances in the NCAA Elite
Eight with a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.
26ALL-AMERICANS - The Lady Buffs have produced an
impressive number of 26 All-Americans in program history including
a pair of DII National Players of the Year: Cristina Pereira (1991) and
Sarah Butler-Carthel (1997, 1999).
19LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS - To say that the Lady Buffs have
dominated the Lone Star Conference over the past three decades
would be an understatement. The Lady Buffs own a 278-48 overall
record in the LSC, winning an staggering 86 percent of their matches.
13REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - The Lady Buffs have
claimed 13 South Central Regional Titles on their way to the Division
II Elite Eight during their 25 all-time appearances in the NCAA
Postseason.
1,064VICTORIES SINCE 1980 - The Lady Buffs
have dominated Division II Volleyball dating back to the
1980 season. Since that time, the Lady Buffs are 1,064-
400-2 which is a winning percentage of over 72 percent.
26NCAA POSTSEASON APPEARANCES - The
Lady Buffs have one of the most storied programs in all of NCAA
Division II. Since 1988, WT has made an incredible 26 appearances
in the NCAA Postseason. The Lady Buffs rank fifth all-time in postseason
appearances trailing only Central Missouri (32), Tampa (31), New Haven (30)
and Fl. Southern (29).

Jason Skoch enters his 10th season at the helm of the Lady Buffs in the 2018 campaign. Skoch has
continued the storied tradition of Lady Buff Volleyball with seven appearances in the NCAA Division II
Postseason with four South Central Regional Championships.
The Lady Buffs returned to the NCAA Postseason as the seventh seed in the South Central Regional
Championship in 2017, WT then went on a run as they picked up wins over then #12 Tarleton State and
Metro State to make the program’s 16th Regional Championship match before falling to #9 Regis in
four-sets. WT finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 23-14 as they went 12-8 in Lone Star
Conference play.
The 2014 campaign was another dominating run thru the Lone Star Conference for the Lady Buffs as
they went a perfect 16-0 in league play to claim their 19th LSC Championship while registering a perfect
league record for the 16th time since the 1986 season. The Lady Buffs participated in their 10th straight
and 25th overall apearance in the NCAA Postseason as they made an appearance in the South Central
Regional Semifinals before dropping a five-set thriller to host Colorado Mesa to finish the season with an
overall record of 32-5. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
2013 saw the Lady Buffs continue their dominance of the Lone Star Conference as the team went a
perfect 16-0 in league play to claim the program’s 18th LSC Title. WT hosted the South Central Regional
Tournament at “The Box” as they claimed the program’s 13th Regional Title, the Lady Buffs advanced
to the National Semifinal match before falling to BYU-Hawaii in a five-set thriller. Skoch was named the
American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) South Central Region Coach of the Year as well as the
LSC Coach of the Year for his efforts.
The 2012 season saw the Lady Buffs claim the LSC Tournament Title after a thrilling five set win over
Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas followed by WT taking the South Central Regional Championship to
make the program’s 12th appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight held in Pensacola, Florida. WT finished the
season with an overall record of 33-5.
In 2011, the Lady Buffs went 34-3 including a 19-1 mark in the LSC for their sixth consecutive and 17th
overall LSC Championship. WT made its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, Skoch picked
up his second consecutive LSC Coach of the Year honor. The Lady Buffs put their mark in the NCAA
Record Books in 2011, recording the longest conference win streak in Division II history of 87 matches
from Sept. 8, 2006 – Sept. 17, 2011.
In 2010, the Lady Buffs finished the season with a 27-9 overall record and a flawless 14-0 mark in the
LSC. The team won its fifth consecutive LSC Championship and 16th overall. WT reached the NCAA
Postseason for a sixth consecutive season before falling to Emporia State in the opening round of the
South Central Regional Tournament. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of the Year.
In his first season with the team in 2009, Skoch (rhymes with ‘coach’) led the ultra-successful Lady
Buffs to fourth-consecutive and 15th all-time Lone Star Conference title, 20th NCAA Regional tournament
appearance and 11th NCAA Regional title, and 11th NCAA Elite Eight appearance. The team experienced
their fourth National Championship match appearance in Lady Buff history and finished second behind
three-time national champions, Concordia-St. Paul, finishing the season with a 39-4 record.
Skoch currently boasts an incredible career win-loss record of 393-95 (.805) in his 13 years as a head
coach, including a 257-75 (.774) mark in his nine seasons at the helm of the Lady Buffs. Before coming to
Canyon, Skoch served as head coach at Truman State as he guided the Bulldogs to four-consecutive top-
10 rankings in the AVCA final poll.
While at Truman State, he compiled a 137-22 record (.861), made five consecutive trips to the NCAA
Tournament, developed 11 All-America student-athletes as well as two MIAA Most Valuable Players. The
Bulldogs were MIAA regular-season and tournament champions in both 2006 and 2007, and spent a
portion of the 2005 campaign ranked number-one in the national polls. Additionally, the Bulldogs have
been ranked in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll every week during his tenure as head coach. While still at
Truman, Skoch recruited the 2009 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, Megan Sharpe.
In 2007, Skoch’s squad set season records in kills, hitting attempts, assists, digs and blocks en route to
a 36-6 overall record, an MIAA tournament title, a No. 1 seed in the South Central Regional, and a trip to
the National Sweet 16.
koch has demonstrated success from the outset of his Truman tenure, as in his first season at the
helm, Truman finished second in MIAA play and won the MIAA postseason tournament. After opening the
season ranked second in the preseason national poll, the squad jumped up to No. 1 one week later for the
first time in school history. They held the top spot for six weeks in 2005.
He capped off his first season at the institution with a South Central regional title before falling in the Elite Eight against host and national-No. 1
Nebraska-Kearney.
The Bulldogs rolled through the MIAA in 2006, going undefeated and once again capturing the MIAA tournament championship. The season was
culminated with Skoch being named MIAA Coach of the Year. The squad spent five more weeks atop the national poll late in the season, and, after being
recognized as the MIAA Coach of the Year for the first time, Skoch’s squad was again selected to host the South Central Regional.
Skoch came to Truman after spending one season as an assistant coach at Mississippi State University. He was part of a first-year coaching staff which
led Mississippi State to an improvement of 11 wins overall and tied a school record for the most wins in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
Skoch also had previous NCAA Division II experience as he was an assistant coach at Central Oklahoma in 2003. He is a former player with club teams
at Penn State University, the University of Memphis and Oklahoma State University.
Skoch earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State in 1998, with a major in statistics and a minor in mathematics. He earned a Master of
Science in Statistics from Penn State in 2001.
Skoch and his wife, Karen, reside in Canyon with their children: Jay, Kyle, Kade and Emmie.

Casey Shingler enters his second season as the Assistant Coach at West Texas A&M.
The Lady Buffs finished the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 23-14 with a 12-8 mark in the Lone Star Conference as
WT made their 26th appearance in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Postseason as the seventh seed in the South Central
Region. The Lady Buffs then went on a run as they topped then #12 Tarleton State and Metro State to advance to the pro-
gram’s 16th Regional Championship match before falling to #9 Regis in four-sets.
A native of Tucson, Shingler graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Physical Education in 2009 and
completed his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Arkansas-Monticello in 2012. While at the Arizona, Shingler was a
libero for the Wildcats, winning the 2009 Mountain West Conference Title and earning a 5th place finish in the National
Tournament.
After graduation, Shingler was hired as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas-Monticello. When he was promot-
ed to head coach in 2011, he more than doubled the win total of UAM and claimed four conference matches in the Great
American Conference after the team had gone winless in league play in 2010. During the 2012 season, Shingler was an
assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania. During his time at Penn, they produced the nation’s highest dig average
and All-American Dani Shepard.
Shingler has also coached at the club level, leading multiple teams to Top 16 finishes including a Zona 17-1 2nd place finish at 2014 Far Westerners Qualifier
and a 5th place finish at 2014 GJNC.

Kamille Jones makes the transition from court to bench for the 2018 campaign as the former All-Lone Star Conference
selection becomes the program’s Graduate Assistant Coach.
Jones saw time in 31 matches for the Lady Buffs during her senior season in 2017, ranking third on the team with 249 kills
on 744 swings to hit .216 on the season to go along with 62 digs and 32 total blocks. The Fort Worth, Texas native was
honored for her efforts on the court with a spot on the All-Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention Team as the Lady
Buffs made the program’s 26th appearance in the NCAA Division II Postseason with a run to the South Central Regional
Finals.
Jones came to Canyon in the Fall of 2017 following three playing seasons at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.
During her time at MSU, she helped the Racers to three-straight Ohio Valley Conference Championships and a pair of
appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Jones saw time in 20 matches with a pair of starts as a junior in 2016, registering
117 kills (1.86/set) to go along with 11 digs and 13 total blocks as the Racers made a run to the First Round of the NCAA
Tournament before falling at #10 UCLA in four sets.
She redshirted for the Racers in 2015 following a sophomore campaign where she appeared in 13 matches and made one
start. She recorded 25 kills and hit .215 on the season with nine digs and one block assist in 18 sets played. As a freshman in 2014, Jones played in 30
matches with 24 starts. She was fifth on the team with 143 kills and fourth with a .180 attack percentage, finishing the year with 46 digs and 39 blocks.
