Testimonial Statement
DESAI Vrishin Shashank
Vrishin Desai has been a student at Brisbane Grammar School for the past 5 years and, during this
time, he has consistently been a mature, responsible young man who always strives to achieve his
very best.
Academically, Vrishin has achieved results that reflect consistent commitment to scholarship. He is a
motivated student who has been a generous contributor to the collaborative process within and outside
of the learning environment. Across a range of academic areas, Vrishin has shown that persistence
and determination can help yield desired outcomes. In particular, he has demonstrated considerable
proficiency in mathematics, consistently attaining very high grades in both Mathematics B and
Mathematics C. Being awarded a Certificate of Merit each year from 2012 to 2016 is evidence of his
high standard of achievement across all subject areas. This award recognises Vrishin's standing
among some of the best overall academic performers of his year group. The consistency of his results
is also reflected in his performance in external examinations. Impressively, Vrishin received
certificates of Credit or higher in English, Science and Economics competitions from 2012 to 2015.
Such achievements, combined with his admirable work ethic, demonstrate the strength of Vrishin's
abilities as a learner.
In the extracurricular domain, Vrishin has embraced the opportunity to extend himself and give depth
to his experiences. In particular, in cricket and football, he has demonstrated that he is a team player,
admired for his sportsmanship and gentlemanly demeanour. His enthusiasm, contributions and team
spirit have been appreciated and rewarded with Sports Awards in both of these activities, as well as
being recognised with the award of Half Colours for services to debating, demonstrating his
commitment to a well-rounded educational experience.
Vrishin’ consideration, support for others and desire to be of service to his community are impressive
characteristics. Vrishin has performed admirably and capably as a Year 8 Form Senior, a challenging
role that requires equal measures of patience and enthusiasm. Unsurprisingly, he was very effective in
this role while continuing to maintain a healthy balance between his academic and extracurricular
responsibilities. At Pepperina Hill, during the Year 8 boys’ school camp experience, Vrishin displayed
initiative and enthusiasm in his Form Senior responsibilities, mentoring younger students and
working collaboratively with members of the Moogerah Outdoor Education Centre staff. His
membership of the School’s Community Service Committee, where he also contributed as Team Leader
of the Gender Equality Committee, has also been the perfect vehicle for Vrishin to be of service to
others in tangible ways, such as fundraising and volunteer work, in order to make a difference to
people’s lives. Vrishin has had an active and expansive engagement with the many activities on offer
during his time at the School. He has garnered great personal satisfaction while at the same time
using his abundant talents to benefit others.
Vrishin is a sincere and sensitive young man with a positive outlook. He values friendship and trust,
and recognises the best qualities in others. Vrishin treats everyone with respect and provides support
for others when needed. We wish him all the very best for a successful and rewarding journey ahead.
