Findings
6
Various theories can be seen associated with the increase in ship size:
Strategy alliances models reviewed in a shipping company,
model used in reaping greater economies of scale through larger vessels,
Strategy for port advancement to accommodate bigger ship,.
Also suggested solutions based on the finding of other scholars.
7. 7
Conclusion
7
Bigger ship is good for the future, but not for the immediate situation at hand in Nigerian port.
Due to lack of port constraint in Nigeria, terminals can’t handle up to the largest ship size
presently.
Increase in ship size (positive effect for the future).
Cost Advantage.
Helps identify competitors.
Gives a shipping competitive advantage in the market.
Better transit time for shipping line.
Room for strategy alliances.
Room for port advancement.
