TECHNICAL PROJECT
Analysis and simulation of network protocols (2017) – Using Wireshark and PingPlotter to generate packets
and capture them for the analysis of network protocols such as IP, ICMP, DHCP, UDP and TCP.
Secondary User Throughput Analysis in a Hybrid Underlay-Overlay CR System (2016) - In this project, I
reproduced the results of an existing IEEE transaction paper and proposed an extension to the system model
considered by them. The considered system is a hybrid system where a secondary user can switch between
overlay and underlay modes of transmission with the aim to enhance its throughput. A probabilistic approach is
employed for the primary user channel states modeling them as a discrete Markov Chain. The reproduced results
match both, in trend and in values, to the analytical as well as the Monte Carlo simulation results present in the
paper. The coding is done on MATLAB for both, analytical and simulation results. It is shown that a proper
selection of the access strategy of the secondary user based on the primary user channel characteristics has
throughput advantages over a fixed mode of transmission.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate Thesis Analysis of Cognitive Radios Spring 2015
Carnegie Mellon University, Rwanda
Modeling and formulating primary user’s performance in a cognitive radio network
Devising a new method to find path loss exponent of a system with no knowledge of the location of the
transmitters, and using Universal Software Radio Peripherals (USRP) along with GNU Radio to validate the
devised theory
