Source
• Should be At low traffic speeds such as those
normally experienced on urban roads. the
majority of road traffic noise is caused by
vehicle engines, transmissions, exhausts and
brakes. As speeds rise, the noise attributable
to the interaction of the tyre on the road.
• Responsible driver behaviour and correct
vehicle maintenance can also lessen the
annoyance caused by traffic noise.

5. Changing roads, road surfaces
• Renewing road surfaces or replacing rough paving with smooth
asphalt is another action that can be taken to reduce sound
levels and noise impact. Measures need to be taken to ensure
that vehicle speeds do not increase following the resurfacing of
the road.
• Protection of silent areas by avoiding the construction of roads
and instead making houses.
