Area of the unit: 2000 sq. feet

9. PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT
This Industry mainly focuses on production of high precision parts using fully
computerized automatic machines. A diminutive change in the size or shape of the
parts can result in disfunction of the final producs. hence shaping each parts need
careful overlook. Manual production of such parts are time-taking and needs more
human effort. Sri Krishna Binary Engineering which produced these parts from 2003
till 2015 used the manual way of production. Now, cleverly adapting it to technology,
it doubled its profit and reached out to its clients with efficiency and perfection of
making the precision parts for companies.

10. Major issues in manufacturing of any products is primarily affected by dearth of skilled labour.
Secondly, in- consistency of labour friendly atmosphere, insufficient infrastructure followed by
irregular orders and supply of raw materials. All the above are largely faced problems of SSI
industries in our country. Purchase, production and sales are key factors for development. This
units promoter has kept all the above in very comfortable position.
This industry embark upon a well strategized marketing approach to secure orders from both
Indian and foreign buyers including Chevron and Carborundum Universal.
Hectic competitions are one of the prime factors for ascertainment of sales. so the promoter
basically a diploma holder in mechanical works have a long experience in production of
Mechanical products with quality and precision; taking into consideration of adequate profits out of
given boundary for pricing in competitive environments & conditions. To secure orders from
corporate and foreign buyers are formidable task which the promoter directly involves to achieve
the confirmation of orders at time of requirements else the same will be secured by Sales persons
appointed by the company.
Manufacturing is a value-added production activity, and machining technologies are the
fundamental technologies of manufacturing. It is believed that India must develop more
advanced technologies to better compete with manufacturers in China. IT terminals and other
communication devices are becoming more compact and sophisticated. They require
miniaturized, high-precision, and high-quality electronic and mechanical components.
Sri Krishna Binary Engineering therefore is using new machining technologies for producing
these high precision components at low cost
Micro units' survival and developments are closely interconnected to policies of government- both
State and Central. There are always ups & downs for small industries with respect to industrial
fluctuation in the environment of corporate companies.Therefore the promoter is also
concentrating on securing export orders. In this way the revenue will not be affected.

11. About CNC used in manufacturing of spare parts:
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) refers to - manipulating traditional machines by the use of
computer systems. CNC machining has become common as the use of computers has
increased in industrial manufacturing processes. Conventional industrial equipment like centre
lathes, routers, drills and millers are now operated through computers to achieve better
control. It may seem like a simple computer is controlling the machine, but the unique software
and control is what really sets the system apart in CNC machining.
Nowadays, CNC machining is found in many industries to aid production as it streamlines the
manufacturing process:

12. -> High Efficiency:
One reason for using CNC machining for production is efficiency. Since computers are used
to control machines, it means that all major operations of production can be automated to
increase speed and quality of manufacturing. Machines controlled through computers don’t
fatigue and do not need break, thus the process of production is streamlined. Such efficiency
can never be achieved through a manual process.
-> Accuracy:
Another reason, CNC machining is beneficial for manufacturing is its accuracy. CNC
machines are programmable and each and every detail of the production process can be fed
into the machine. By using CNC machines, identical parts can made with the highest
accuracy levels.
Reducing errors from the manufacturing process eliminates unnecessary waste. CNC
machines can manufacture ideal parts to meet requirements of clients. High accuracy level
also makes it hard for others to duplicate and steal the design of products.
-> Fabrication:
CNC machines are very important. Several operations are involved in fabrication such as
welding sheets of metal, punching holes and flame cutting which can be done safely by
using CNC machines. CNC machines are reprogrammable and flexible which makes them
an ideal choice for fabrication. Therefore CNC machining is absolutely essential for
manufacturing in order to avoid time loss and material wastage.

13. VMC - Vertical Milling Centre:
These machines are similar to CNC machines but the difference is VMCs which
employs a spindle with a vertical orientation. With a vertically oriented spindle,
tools stick straight down from the tool holder, and often cut across the top of a
workpiece.
Vertical milling machines provide users with increased visibility due to the
openness provided by the orientation.
Vertical milling is widely used in machine shops and the machines themselves
are more easily available.
CNC vertical milling machines ensure accurate cuts, reducing the risk of human
error found in manual machines.

14. The machines- CNC and VMC are explained in detail above. Sri Krishna Engineering currently
operates 3 CNC machines and 2 VMC machines. Where each CNCs cost between 15 lakhs -
20 lakhs and each VMCs cost between 35 lakhs - 40 lakhs.
with this type of latest machines the company offers a promising outlook and customers are
more satisfied and comfortable with the outputs from Sri Krishna Binary Engineering. The
workers' jobs are simplified and they were given enough training to operate the advanced
machines in the industry. The binary and numerical values are updated to the workers for
manufacturing high precision components in order to start the production process. On the
whole the Production department does a commendable and promising job. As every activity is
monitored from MD's cabin through CCTV cameras. Hence, the workers are conscious and
efficient in their workspace.
Quality Control :
It is the process of ensuring that the quality of a product or service has met certain predetermined
standards. it involves preventing defects in the finished products after they have been developed or
manufactured. it takes place after a product has been developed. it often involves activities such as
inspection or testing. Quality Control in Sri Krishna Binary Engineering is performed by a specialized
team dedicated to inspecting for and detecting flaws in the finished products.
Customer relationship management :
it is about building and maintaining profitable long-term customer relationships; typically by supplying
customers with what they want in time bound manner. To know the requirements of customers,
understand their exact needs, marketing and sales team headed by the MD will have close interactions
with the customers or buyers.

15. Administration:
it is one of the key elements associated with a high level of workplace productivity and efficiency. It is
very difficult to run an organization without a good administration faculty. It is administrator, who makes
the rules & regulations and applies these rules in an organization.without an effective administration, an
organization would not run professionally and profitably. Overseeing the purchases, the production and
the sales along with revenue is the agendas of administration.

The above diagram is a generalized representation of Manual turning and CNC
turning/milling adopted by different sectors in the manufacturing segments in
India.The stage of MSME/SSI development till now is half the way mark. The scope still
remains as a vast spectrum for many new entrepreneurs to venture into this sector. Chennai
being the automobile hub for well established companies like Ford, Nissan, Hyundai, Bharat
Benz etc,. pours an extensive scope and opportunity for Sri Krishna Binary Engineering,
other similar manufacturing units and new entrepreneurs in Chennai.

17. Conclusion :
Through this industrial visit at Sri Krishna Binary Engineering, we learnt about the systems and
functioning of SSIs and hurdles faced by micro manufacturing units in India. This Industry has
thrived to maintain its reputation and is doing a commendable job in manufacturing precision parts
and components, also selling them to various companies all over India.
Learnings and objectives accomplished:
Sri Krishna Binary Engineering with its specialized team of workers and employees
choose their raw materials wisely also we came to know about their production Strategies
and MD's Roles is managing the resources of his industry.
Managing material resource is one aspect and human resource is another, in this industry
the human resources are put to the fullest use and each worker work efficiently, the
works become easier as they make use of technology. The workers use the latest
computerized form of machining.
We also learnt about their internal and external problems, its strategies and solutions for
those problems.
It was a fruitful experience in learning their pedagogy and methods in acquiring
customers and their relationship with them.
its maintenance and waste management techniques comes hand in hand through this
learning visit.
With an investment of just 1.5 crore, now its earning a turnover of 1 crore per annum,
this clearly show the industry's efforts in climbing up the ladder in successful operation
among SSIs.
