Polyethylene is divided into the following kinds:
• Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is characterised by its high ductility and low tensile strength.
LDPE can stretch up to 6 times its original length before breaking. It is typically used in construction,
agriculture, surface protection and tarpaulins.
• Linear low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a blended form of LDPE and is a more flexible and
pliable type of material. LLDPE has increased tensile strength and enhanced impact and puncture
resistance. It is used for plastic bags, plastic wrap and flexible tubing.

resistant and can hold up to the harsh rays of the sun without requiring added protection. HDPE is very
