produced plastics in the world. PE has a broad range of applications.
Polyethylene is divided into the following kinds:
• Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is characterised by its high ductility and low tensile strength.
LDPE can stretch up to 6 times its original length before breaking. It is typically used in construction,
agriculture, surface protection and tarpaulins.
• Linear low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a blended form of LDPE and is a more flexible and
pliable type of material. LLDPE has increased tensile strength and enhanced impact and puncture
resistance. It is used for plastic bags, plastic wrap and flexible tubing.

3. • High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is the most robust type of PE. HDPE is also the most UV-
resistant and can hold up to the harsh rays of the sun without requiring added protection. HDPE is very
strong thanks to its tight cell structure, making it difficult for other molecules to pass through.
Because PE can withstand elevated temperatures for extended periods, it is one of the commonly used
plastics for rotomoulding.

Rotational moulding, also known as rotomoulding, is a flexible manufacturing method that involves
moulding one piece of plastic instead of welding or bolting various components together. Rotomoulded
products possess increased durability and are less likely to break apart due to weak points and corroded
weld lines. The precise application of molten plastic allows for uniform wall thickness, even at corners
and defined angles.
