2. ๏ง Air pollution occurs due to the presence of undesirable solid or
gaseous particle in the air, in quantities that are harmful to human
health and the environment.
๏ง Air may get polluted by natural causes such as Volcanoes, forest fire,
which release ash, Sulphur and other gases.
๏ง Pollution by natural causes do not remain for a long time in the
atmosphere and do not lead to permanent atmospheric changes like
man made pollution.
3. Air pollution
โExcessive concentration of foreign matter in air, which adversely
affects the well being of individual or causes damage to propertyโ.
โAir pollution is the presence of harmful gases or particulates in the
air which cause diseases, damage to the living organisms or the
environmentโ.
5. ๏ง Mobile sources such as cars, buses, plane, trucks, trains etc.
Mobile sources are responsible for more than
half of the air pollution in many countries. They mainly produce nitrogen oxide,
gaseous hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
6. ๏ง Stationery sources such as power plants, oil refineries, industrial factories etc.
They release gases like ammonia, carbon
mono oxide, hydrogen chloride etc.
7. ๏ง Area sources such as agricultural areas, cities, and wood burning fire place.
8. ๏ง Natural sources such as wind-blow dust, wildfires and volcanoes.
They release gases like carbon dioxide,
sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide etc.
10. ๏ง Inadequate ventilation is a primary causes of indoor air pollution.
๏ง Radon (radon is a noxious gas that arises from the soil and bedrock beneath
homes and may be in building materials).
๏ง Smoking.
๏ง Gases from cooking and heating.
๏ง Household products like oil-based paints, cleanser, candles, air fresheners etc.
(Because they emit volatile organic compounds VOCs continuously such as
nitrogen dioxide)
11. ๏ง Motor vehicles.
๏ง Industrial factories.
๏ง Cities.
๏ง Wild fire.
๏ง Out door burning of wood.
๏ง Agriculture practice, etc.
