This document presents a project report on developing a flight reservation system. It includes sections on the existing system and its problems, the proposed system and its features, system requirements, a feasibility study, entity relationship and data flow diagrams, database design, screenshots and a conclusion. The proposed system aims to allow users to easily book and manage flight tickets online without having to visit an agent. It evaluates the technical, behavioral and economic feasibility of the project.
3. Airline Reservation System contains the details about
flight schedules and its fare tariffs, passenger reservations and
ticket records. An airline’s inventory contains all flights with
their available seats. The inventory of an airline service is
generally divided into three category of classes (e.g. First,
Business or Economy class)
How many seats are available for the different booking
classes, by opening and closing individual booking classes for
sale. In combination with the fares and booking conditions
stored in the Fare Quote System the price for each sold seat is
determined.
INTRODUCTION
4. The existing system does not help the management in
effective working.
The problems with the existing system is if a person want to
plan for a trip he need to go to a ticket Booking agent there
he need to follow the instructions given by the agent .
Because of this person may not be totally satisfied.
The solution to this to develop single stop system where he
can book tickets easily from any Where at any time.
For every info about airlines schedules, fares and seat’s
availability customer should go to Ticket booking agent.
EXISTING SYSTEM
5. PROBLEM OF EXISTING SYSTEM
• Inability of modification of data.
• Not user friendly.
• Difficulty in reports generating.
• Manual operator control.
• Lot of paperwork.
• Inability of sharing the data.
• No support in decision-making.
• No support in strategic competitive advantage.
6. The proposed system will work according to the
standards laid, by the existing system Billing designing is,
as facilitating to generate desired output whenever
required.
The various features which may be provided by our
system include
Booking a ticket easily.
Viewing available seats.
Viewing flight schedules.
Cancelling ticket.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
7. The proposed system will be developed in
following stages:
Preliminary Investigation.
Analyzing the current system.
Form designing.
Programming.
Testing.
Implementation and evaluation.
8. Easiness in modification of data.
User friendly.
Reports are easily generated.
Sharing the data is possible.
No or very few paperwork.
Support strategic competitive advantage.
Computer operator control
CHARACTERISTIC OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM:
9. Software Requirement
Preferred Technologies:
Front-End tools: VB.Net
Back-End tools: My SQL
Operating Systems:
Microsoft windows xp,vista,7,8
Other Requirements:
VB .NET Framework 3.5 Higher
Supporting Software: SQL Server 2005
SYSTEM REQUIRMENT
10. Hardware Requirement
Processor(CPU) : Pentium 4 or more
Primary Memory(RAM) : Recommended 256MB
Hard Disk Drive : Minimum 40GB
Display Size : 14 Monitor
Key Board : Total 104 keys With 12
Functions
Control : American Standard
Printer Available : HP Laser Jet 61
Power Requirement : 220-250 Volts
11. The key consideration involve in the feasibility
study are:
A. Technical feasibility
B. Behavioral feasibility
C. Economic feasibility
FEASIBILITY STUDY
12. Technical Feasibility :
Technical feasibility centers on the existing computer
system ( hardware, software etc ) and to what extent it can
support the proposed system addition. For example, if the
current system is operating at 70% capacity ( an arbitrary
value), then another application could overload the system or
require additional hardware. If the budget is serious constrain
then the
project is judged not feasible. The technologies and the
environment which are used in this project.
13. Behavioral Feasibility :
An evaluation of the behavior of the end users, which
may effect the envelopment of the system. People are
inherently resistant to change and computers have to know to
facilitate changes and computers have to known to facilitate
changes. An estimate should be made of how strong a
reaction the user staff is likely to have towards the
development of a computerized system.
14. Economic Feasibility :
The procedure is to determine the benefits and savings that
are expected from a candidate system and compare it with
the costs. If a benefit outweighs costs, then the decision is
made to design and implement the system.
Otherwise further alterations are made in the proposed
system
1. Manpower cost
2. Hardware and software cost
46. Future Scope:
The scope of the project includes that what all
future enhancements can be done in this system to make it
more feasible to use.
Databases for different products range and storage can be provided.
Multilingual support can be provided so that it can be
understandable by the person of any language.
More graphics can be added to make it more user-friendly and
understandable.
PROPOSED ENHANCEMENTS
47. Due to this project we were able to learn in Microsoft
VB.net.
This project also gave us an experience of working in a
group and securing nice coordination between all the
partners.
Getting accurate information about airlines and their
schedules is an important part of preparing for a trip .
To help you with this task we have provided
information about the of flights available between various
points and we have also included companies that provide
flights.
CONCLUSION
