KARAM KHAN KOT(FORT)

2. ◦ One of the most authentic and well architect work of history can easily get the attention of
any sensible person. Because historical things have their own class especially in sights like
their way of construction with cleanliness and classical designs on walls which are very long in
height and width too. Its best example can be as of Taj Mahal, Ranni kot(fort) etc. As like that
there is a Kot (fort) which is located in northern Sindh in Kashmore district counted in taluka
Tangwani of Sindh and it is popularly know as Karam khan kot(fort). It is 60 kilo meters from
Sukker district and counted in Larkana division.
◦ Its early construction was started in the early 1900s. But it’s original architects are unknown.
Hence its has long and big walls around the whole fort which is approximately constructed on
more then 60000 bricks. And the whole fort in beholding a plot of 10000 square foot. And the
builders of this fort have used old classical bricks which is almost 15inches long and 8 inches
thick and having the red colour on them. So it’s clean brickwork gains the attention of visitors.

3. ◦ Here adding about my travelling experience from Hyderabad to Karam
khan kot karampur. From Hyderabad it almost takes six hours by road
to reach there, and its is approximately 500 kilo meters. Hence the
bus, the window seat and slow songs can really play a good role in
your journey and in other words its a thing which makes your journey
more wonderful. Hence as soon as we reach near fort, the way which
connects fort to the national highway is full of crops to the both sides
of road and its greenery looks really beautiful with a natural look. And
also the excellent service of Tanga which is still rolling there and is
really good. Hence after a desi lunch we reached fort safely.
◦ Then later it’s care takers took us for visit of fort and also step by step
they gave the information about the fort in which they mentioned the
details of fort which we by ourselves observed and seen there and it
was so accurate. The good thing about the fort is that it is still
inhabited and this thing can be appreciate that the old traditions of
Sindh are still performed their in that same old manner. And its a sign
that still our culture has its own worth whether many centuries have
passed but still the culture representation are practised their.

4. ◦ Hence coming to it’s design and it’s structure, the architecture of
this which is seems to be really beautiful and eye catchy. Because of
its beauty. So the workman constructed it by adding colossal bricks
which containing different kind of arts on it and the scaffold of the
fort’s mid tomb seems that its has taken many years to complete.
And after the research about this fort its is described by it’s care
takers that this fort took the efforts of 500 labours for its complete
inner and outer construction. And it was also told that the material
which is used in it was not only of Sindh but was also brought from
other countries.
This fort has three main doors which is also well designed and are the best examples of a classical wood
work which are rectangular in shape and their heights are about 20 feet high and their width is
approximately 5 feet long. And this fort also contains a museum where the historical things of Bijarani
tribe are presented there. Beside it this fort also contains guest rooms for royal guests and a large darbar
where issues and problems of city was discussed at that time. And also it has different and large halls at
it’s every floor. This fort still has a significant value in Karampur.

5. ◦ This fort in now a days also has another name which is Bijarani fort when the grandson of Karam
khan bijarani which is famous for its political career Mir Hazar khan Bijarani repaired it in the year
of 2010 and constructed it main parts and it’s front because there is a need of it. after the death of
his father Sher khan, later his son named this fort as Bijarani's fort. Karam khan was the sardar of
not only Birjarani tribe but also 35 other tribes of northern sindh which was under his hold and he
controls these tribes. Hence this fort became the capital of that area and became the court of
justice for tribes especially for villagers where they tell their problems and issues which is solved by
the current sardar which is Sardar Mehboob Ali khan Bijarani who is also chairman of Kashmore
district.

6. ◦ So at last, no doubt as the year passes and time flies things and places get older and become change,
so they must get repaired time by time. But again in the comparison of latest and old architect there
is a lot of difference which is really hard to fulfil in this time period or era. Hence the Karam khan kot
has also need of repairing to its some of inner and outer parts which must be done as soon as
possible and its a humble request to government to look after these kind of historical places in Sindh
or Pakistan and maintain them. And also they must organize a proper residency that visitors can
easily stay their and enjoy their experiences. Even these kind of historical sights where outsiders
come for visit to fulfil their purposes like writing, photography and shoots etc can also play a good
role in finance of Pakistan and can helps us in economy if they are maintained well.
◦ This fort is not only a place which is for visit but it has a history which is very important. And in the
end this fort is a very beautiful historical place and I really recommend it to everyone that they must
have a visit of it once and I hope he or she will gain a good experience of it.
