9. Associate Software Engineer
Software Engineers at Unison are responsible for maintaining, debugging,
troubleshooting, improving, and otherwise advancing a world-class
enterprise software platform in use by many of the world’s largest
companies, many of whom have multinational footprints, millions of
stakeholders, and who rely on our solutions to compete on a global scale
and create positive, sustainable impact for society at large.
As an Associate Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in helping our
Product team build and maintain our software, from top to bottom. We are
looking for a seasoned engineer who is experienced in working as part of a
team, agreeable and communicative, both strategic and tactical, and truly
full-stack—just as comfortable building a rich front-end experience as they
are building a robust back-end system.
This role reports to the Director of Product.
Overview
10. Associate Software Engineer
1. Real-time data collection from social APIs
2. Implementation of methods from NLP &
machine learning libraries like NLTK & scikit-
learn
3. Integration of backend services with front-end
GUI
4. Manage version control, release cycles, and
deployment
5. Work closely with leadership on building elegant
solutions to technical problems and driving
software engineering excellence across the
organization
6. Transform functional requirements into well-
structured, efficient technical architecture that
covers systems end-to-end and ensures security,
scalability, reliability, and maintainability
Responsibilities
7. Contribute to a team of internal software
engineers to create an environment that
celebrates both engineering and creative
practices.
8. Work closely with Sales, Business
Development, and Client Services to
inform the direction and sensibilities of the
software
9. Identify, prioritize, escalate and resolve
bugs and other areas of concern
10. Liaise with internal departments to ensure
product needs are fulfilled effectively and
promptly
11. Associate Software Engineer
• Intellectually interested in
social media analytics,
consumer insights, predictive
modeling, machine learning
• Prior experience working on a
professional development
team
• Experience solving
performance problems with
Lucene-based search
solutions like Elasticsearch or
Solr
• Experience with data-
ingestion, processing &
visualization at scale
Skills & qualifications
• Experience in building
Web Applications using
Ruby on Rails, AWS,
ElasticSearch & MySQL
• Elementary knowledge of
Python
• Proficient in Ruby, SQL,
writing server-side APIs,
architecting and
maintaining solution
stacks like LAMP
• Ideally experience with
maintaining and scaling
AWS infrastructure
• Fast learner
