Development Institute (CARDI), (Position: Research Assistant).
Brief major responsibilities:
 Assist in developing the research proposal of division to submit to donors in order to conduct
the research experiment on pest surveillance and pest management of field crops particularly
grains crops, vegetable and fruit tree either in CARDI or farmer fields.
 Conduct the experiment protocol of each projects such ACIAR, CARF and Government
project (RGC).
 Currently conduct experiment on the observation of mungbean’s pests and their control after
rice at CARDI, Pest management of tomato crops and Screening the resistant varieties to
brown plant hopper (BPH) in the net house condition, CARDI.
 Monitor and evaluation of pest incidence on field crops such rice, maize, mungbean, tomato,
sesame, cassava, watermelon and mango in site of CARDI.
 Collect Insect and disease specimens to identify and isolate in the laboratory, plant protection
division.
 Preserve and storage insect specimens in the good condition, entomology laboratory.
 Prepare questionnaire and interview farmer with the current situation of pest invaded their
crops and their management emphasis on the pesticide usage through target province.
 Consult with other researcher and farmer to find out the proper methods to control the pest of
field crops dealing with the pesticide selection before making decision.
 Assist in preparing the project workshop, training course, farmer field day and field
demonstration.
 Prepare work plan and progress report preparation.
 Cooperate with other division, institute and organization.
 Identifying of fungi, bacteria, and virus in Plant Protection laboratory.
 Working closely with farmers, extension officers, and provincial agricultural staffs to provide
support with the research.
 Conducted field survey with JIRCAS for researching rice blast situation in Cambodia.
