1. RECRUITERS! Nowyou can catch FAKE RESUME / CANDIDATE
Well insucha shortspan of my recruitingcareer,Ihave seena lotof fake candidatesandlearntthat
there are some commonmistakesthateveryfake candidate makes, andwhichIwantedtohighlight in
thisarticle andsincerelyhope thisarticle provestobe helpful firstlyforrecruitersincatchingfake
candidate aswell asimprove chancesof goodand original candidatesingettinggoodjobs.
1) Start readingresume frombottom:recruitersshouldalwaysmake itahabitof readingresume from
bottombecause thatis where mostof the fakingisdone, whetheritisaddingfake experience orskillsor
eveneducation.
2) SuspectUniversities:the veryfirstthingthatarecruitershouldlookatiseducationwhere firstlyfaking
isdone,the most prominentnamesthatIhave seenonresumesisJNTU, OsmaniaUniversity,Anna
University,NagarjunaUniversity,thoughthese universitiesare verygoodandrenowneduniversities
whichalsomightbe the reason, fake candidatesalwaysuse these namesforshowingfake education.
Alsofromthe yearof passingyoucan judge thatwhetherthe candidate hasenoughandcorrect
experience ornotwhichisby andlarge self explanatory.
3) Weird/ UnknownCompanyNames:if yousee companyname tobe weirdorunknown,there are 90%
chancesthat it can be fake, because accordingtowhat I have seen, peoplewhoare doinggoodinthe
industryare comingfromgood companieswithgoodeducation.
4) Very1st projectas onsite project:onsome resumesIhave seenthatthe very1st of projectof the
candidate isshownononsite andoffshore whichjustcan’tbe true because a candidate hasto gain
some experience thenhe cangoonsite andget some onsite experience, sothisis somethingtolookfor.
But thispointcan be counteredbyonlything, that isif the candidate hasdone hismaster’sa different
countryfrom hishome countryand that’swhere he isshowingasonsite whichisperfectlyacceptable ,
anythingapartfrom that , won’tbe.
5) Date of Birth: thoughthisissensitive informationwhichmanycandidatesdon’tprovide butif a
candidate providesyouwithhis/herdate of birth, you can match date of birthwithgraduationand
projectdateswhichcan give youan ideaabout a candidate beingfake.
6) Too lowrates:YES THIS IS TRUE, I meanif candidate withverystrongexperience inaniche skill (for
example ,say8 years) like JAVAorOracle or any otherniche skill ,isreadyisworkfor $35 to $40/hour
or less, itdoesgive a concernbecause firstlygoodcandidate withstrongexperience andspeciallyif
niche will askforgoodmoneyand if someone iscomingforreallylow rate ,can be a fake.
7) No ProfilesonLinkedInorFacebook:well IamonfacebookandLinkedInandnearlyeveryITguy
because nowa day’sit’sno longerforfun. But itis usedtomake contactsand to stay connected, even
to finda job.So alwaysdoa check if candidate hasa LinkedInprofile,if not, goforfacebookandif not
there too, it can be a fake.
8) Candidate notable toexplainprojects:if all of the above criteria’sare metandif yourstill thinking
that the candidate can be fake,Iwouldsay thatgive a call to the candidate, see if he canexplainthe
projectscope,rolesandresponsibilities,what’shiscontributionandworktowardsthe projectCLEARLY
WITHOUT STAMMERING. If he can verygood,if not then, itcan be fake.
2. There can be manymore ways to catch fake candidateswhichIam 100% sure otherrecruitersand
sourcerswouldapply, whichisgoodandthese are mine soI thoughtto share hope tohelps
