  12. The RDA for fruits and vegetables keeps increasing. Now it is between 9-12 servings a day. There is a reason for this which I will explain in a minute, but first take a look at how much the child eats…

So 89% of us are not getting the recommended nutrients set by our government, which is usually set at the bare minimum requirements. The other 11% of us are getting better nutrients, but not the best and here is why… To compound the issue of low nutrient level in foods we consider to be “ healthy”, our overall food choices are increasingly poor and directly contribute to the decline of the overall health of this nation. Most Americans do not eat enough fruits and vegetables . In 2002, the USDA recommended 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily as a part of a healthy diet, but only 11% of adults actually met these guidelines.
