  • Core product focus. Many great products ….but focus on needs of marketplace and our strengths.
  • The magnitude and scale are so great that the World Health Organization and other preeminent health authorities around the globe have started sounding the alarmLet’s look at some of these more closely…
  • We are in a state of a global health crisis!Chronic diseases are getting out of control. These are diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes and they are assuming epidemic proportions. 35 million people are impacted globally and at the current rate – it is going to impact 41 million people by 2015. In fact the incidence of chronic diseases is growing faster than the population itself. The problem has become so large and foreboding that the WHO published a special report on chronic diseases impacting the world populations. In that report they sound a strong alarm….pointing out that the problem is huge…and we NEED to do something about it or we are in big trouble.
  • So, what is chronic disease?According to the World Health Organization these are diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes and they are assuming epidemic proportions. The top-5 chronic diseases driving this crisis are heart disease, stroke, cancer, respiratory disease, and diabetes. The magnitude and scale are so great that health authorities world wide have begun sounding the alarm.
  • The world health organization tells us that cardiovascular diseases accounted for nearly 1/3rd of all deaths. Heart disease is the #1 killer of both men and women alike impacting about 17 million peopleNow…just to make sure you don’ t think this applies to some other people in some other country, take a look at what the WHO says about the situation in the United States…In 2002 Chronic Disease accounted for 88% of all deaths…Essentially 9 out of 10 people here today will die from Chronic Disease!!!
  • Let’s take a look at why that is happening. The #1 reason is poor diets. What that means is that we are not getting enough of protective nutrients in our diet. There is no shortage of calories; but the key nutrients that promote health and protect us against these chronic diseases are missing. On top of that – we are not as physically active as we need to be. We are spending our time in cars and in our offices and not getting much exercise – perhaps due to our busy lifestyles and juggling multiple priorities.Fast food seems much more convenient than looking for healthier alternatives. The problem as well as the solution to this are both in the food we eat. Let’s take a look…
  • Too much of the wrong stuff ---- not enough of the right stuff ….Most of us have turned the healthy food pyramid upside down. 95% of us don’t eat the kinds of foods that support good health. Instead of making whole grains the base of our diet, most of us eat less than one serving a day. Instead of eating lots of fruits and vegetables, we eat lots of sweets and unhealthy fats, and instead of choosing heart healthy fish, we are choosing burgers and pizza. Many people don’t eat fish due to concerns about presence of heavy metals and contaminants. So – what can you do?....
  • This is the GNLD Wellness Pyramid, based on the USDA’s healthy food guide pyramid, later refined by the Harvard School of Medicine.Your healthy pyramid should be built on a healthy foundation of a physical activity and weight management. Then the three key food groups that build on that foundation are whole grains – plenty of those, fruits and vegetables and healthy protein and fats from sources such as fish. Foods containing simple and processed fats and sugars should be limited…But here’s the reality of our diet…
  • So what can you do? – to go from the typical lifestyle pyramid to the Wellness Pyramid? The need for taking charge of our own health has never been greater, and population surveys tell us that more and more people are wanting to do this today unlike ever before. In fact the Generation ‘Y’ – people who are about 19-31 years old today are the most health conscious ever. They don’t want to get the illnesses that they saw parents or grandparents struggle with. They realize that ‘prevention’ is a whole lot smarter, and coincidently these are also the people who do not trust large corporations and advertising. They want to hear from friends and people they can trust. Not only are they incredible health conscious – they are also incredibly networked, though the power of the internet today. They also care about the environment and recognize the importance of whole foods. They are the ones who will be the most open to hearing about what we have to offer…And here’s what we have now to bring to the world…
  • The WHO asks us to eat more omega-3 fatty acids from fish or plant sources, more fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and maintain a healthy weight. The American Heart Association gives the same suggestion.Their nutritional keys to heart health are….Eat more fruits and vegetables, whole grain, more omega-3 rich fish. Now let’s take a look at cancer….
  • Cardiovascular disease is the primary cause of death in developed nations.80 million people in the United States have one or more forms of cardiovascular disease (CVD) – 2006 estimatesNearly 151,000 Americans killed by CVD in 2005 were under age 65. In 2005, 32% of deaths from CVD occurred prematurely (i.e., before age 75) – well below the average life expectancy of 77.8 years). Coronary Heart Disease caused about one of every five deaths in the United States in 2005. It is the largest single killer of American males and females.Average number of years of life lost due to a heart attack is 15Source: http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3037327
  • Contrary to popular belief, heart disease kills more women than men, and has begun to show up in younger and younger age groups.

  • Years of searching for cause-and-effect relationships helped define common risk factors, includingHigh blood pressureHigh blood cholesterolCigarette smokingObesitySedentary lifestyleHowever, these account for only about half of the deaths attributed to cardiovascular disease. Current research has led to a broader and deeper understanding of the role of diet and nutrition in maintaining the health of the circulatory system. A low-fat, high-fiber diet goes a long way towards supporting heart health. Caring for your heart, however, means more than just watching your saturated fat and cholesterol. Scientific data shows healthful benefits for several foods, including:FruitsVegetablesOatmealGarlicOnionsFatty fish, such as salmonRed wineScience also supports cardiovascular benefits for the following nutrients, obtained from diet and/or supplements:Vitamin EFiberCarotenoidsFlavonoidsOmega-3 fatty acidsVitamin CMagnesiumFolic AcidB vitamins

  • High levels of homocysteine can damage arteries if it accumulates in the blood.
  • Lipotropic factors promote proper mobilization and utilization of dietary fatsLipotropic factors help keep lipids (fats) emulsified in blood, so they may be mobilized and utilized throughout the body where needed. Helps reduce the buildup of unwanted fat in the liverFolic Acid, B6 and B12 promote proper metabolism of homocysteine, which supports a healthy antioxidant response to LDL cholesterol, free flowing circulation and overall arterial wall health.GNLD adds betaine hydrochloride to work in conjunction with B12; Hesperidin and bioflavonoids to support overall product effectiveness.
  • Provides nutritional support of healthy heart and circulatory systemConcentrated whole-food lipotropic factors (choline and inositol)Contains folic acid, vitamin B6 and B12—nutrients known to lower blood levels of homocysteine, an amino acid that can accumulate to dangerous levels and damage blood vesselsNatural, plant- derived Betaine hydrochloride for improved vitamin B12 absorption Betaine is itself involved in homocysteine metabolismComprehensive array of citrus bioflavonoids including hesperidin to support vascular health
  • Many factors determine the health of your heart and blood vessels, especially a balanced diet low in fat and high in fiber. Most of the time however, we don’t eat the foods that give us the nutrients we need for optimal cardiovascular health.Elevated cholesterol is often a symptom of a high-fat, low-fiber diet. Low-fat, high fiber diets have been linked to improved heart health, and weight maintenance.
  • Elevated blood cholesterol is a major challenge to long-term heart health. Recent studies have show that water-soluble dietary fibers, commonly found in beans and oat bran, can help reduce blood cholesterol levels. Scientists think the soluble fibers may bind dietary and bile acid cholesterol from being absorbed in the blood stream.
