Come Grow With Us
Department of Commerce
Since being founded in 1873, Coffeyville has been based
in trade and industry. Over the last 141 years, several large
companies have called Coffeyville home due to the multi-modal
trasportation options available to businesses, supportive
economic climate of the community, and strong workforce
available for growing companies. In fact, according to the Kansas
Department of Labor, there is a total of 77,141 workers in
the labor pool of Montgomery
County and adjoining
counties that a new employer
could draw from, with 3,959
within an easily commutable
distance from the facility.
The Montgomery County
Labor Market and the sur-rounding
area contain a pool of
educated and trained available
labor. A unique situation that
will benefit new buisnesses in
recruiting employees is the re-location
and closing of South-wire,
Inc. and the Amazon.com
Distribution & Fullfillment
Center. With a workforce of
approximately 200, Southwire recently announced the closure
of their facility at the Coffeyville Industrial Park due to the
acquisition of a major competitor. Amazon.com, employer of
over 800, changed their distribution business plan, and are re-locating
to another area. This reduction in the county employ-ment
base will create a surplus of over 1000 skilled workers
over the next year.
Montgomery County’s unemployment rate for August
2014 is 6.0% compared to a state rate of 4.7% and his-torically
has remained higher than the state average.
Montgomery County’s workforce total of 17,552 and current un-employment
rate translate to a current available unemployed work-force
within the county of 1,029 and will rise after March 2014.
According to commute pattern data, Montgomery
County is an employment hub within southeast Kan-sas
drawing 43.3% of workers from surrounding counties.

educates
Home to Coffeyville Community College, employers
in Coffeyville and Montgomery County can take
advantage of customized training opportunities for
their new employees. The College works diligently
to support the educational growth of our labor force,
and works with local employers to establish the
innovative training programs that local employers
need to improve the skills of their employees.
Currently the College offers free tuition and
books for one year to any employee who will be
laid off from Amazon.com or Southwire. These
responsive programs help to ensure that this
loyal workforce gains the skills necessary to be
prepared for whatever a new employer might need.
College staff will work directly with companies to
identify their specific training and/or testing needs.
CCC has access to national certifications for many
program areas and online testing is available through
the Pearson VUE testing centers within 80 miles of
our campus. The College has the flexibility to run
long or short-term training for credit or non-credit
as desired by the company. Training courses may be
arranged on campus in our classroom and lab areas,
or can be conducted on-site at the company location.

Coffeyville
lives
...comfortably, with a range of
housing options.
Due to efforts by local devlopers, the State of Kansas,
and local officials, new housing is being developed in
Coffeyville that meets the needs of a wide range of
residents. From 18 new 3 Bedroom 2 Bath homes
near the historical Brown Mansion that will be built
in 2015 for low to moderate income families, to the
upscale Northbrook development with homes with
over 3,000 square feet and surrounding acreage,
Coffeyville assures opportunities for virtually every
budget. One of the perks of small town living
is the small price! A large comfortable home in
Coffeyville might cost a homeowner a fraction of
what it might cost in major metropolitan cities.
The quality of life in Coffeyville can’t be beat!
Coffeyville residents can enjoy these small
town amenities, low cost of living, and a safe
family atmosphere, yet are only a little over an
hour away from the Metropolitan area of Tulsa,
Oklahoma and the Tulsa International Airport.
Coffeyville
serves
...by providing cost effective
utilities for businesses to keep
costs low.
Coffeyville is a full service community with its
own electric service through Coffeyville Municipal
Light and Power (CMLP). Recently, CMLP
was awarded the top award for service reliability
and safety from the Municipal Electric Systems
of Oklahoma (MESO). The City also has a full
service public service department which includes
water and sewer service. Owning these utilities
allows the City to have the flexibility and control
to aid businesses with incentives needed for a new
business relocation or local expansion project.
The City also has its own internet utility, which is
in the process of switching over to a fully functional
Fiber Network. New businesses would be eligible
to get fiber directly to their facility in 2015.
Our Industrial Park already has Fiber, and could
easily be set up for any new business in this area.

Coffeyville
fosters business
growth
Coffeyville became the first community
in Southeast Kansas to adopt Economic
Development Incentive Guidelines that
outline the responsible use of all potential
incentive programs available to businesses
or residents. These guidelines cover not just
local incentive programs but also identify the
appropriate use of staff to assist businesses
in applying for and securing tax credits
or other incentive for new job creation,
investment in capital equipment, housing
reinvestment or development, workforce
development, and a variety of other programs.
Coffeyville has a range of facility options as
well, that could suit a variety of businesses.
Coffeyville is home to one of the largest
Industrial Parks in the region, with facilities
ranging from 30,000 sq. ft. to over 1,000,000
sq. ft. With newly improved 4-lane highway
access, a business friendly corporate airport,
quick routes to the multi-modal shipping
complex of the Port of Catoosa, and rail
spurs that have direct connections to both
BNSF and Union Pacific, any company can
have immediate access to ship their items
quickly to their customers around the world.
Employers want to be able to grow with
emerging international markets, while also
offering the small town amenities where
employees want to raise their families. In
Coffeyville, we have the infrastructure,
incentive programs, and available property
to help your company to grow and prosper.
Companies such as John Deere and
Amazon.com have called Coffeyville
home for this very reason.

  • 2. Since being founded in 1873, Coffeyville has been based in trade and industry. Over the last 141 years, several large companies have called Coffeyville home due to the multi-modal trasportation options available to businesses, supportive economic climate of the community, and strong workforce available for growing companies. In fact, according to the Kansas Department of Labor, there is a total of 77,141 workers in the labor pool of Montgomery County and adjoining counties that a new employer could draw from, with 3,959 within an easily commutable distance from the facility. The Montgomery County Labor Market and the sur-rounding area contain a pool of educated and trained available labor. A unique situation that will benefit new buisnesses in recruiting employees is the re-location and closing of South-wire, Inc. and the Amazon.com Distribution & Fullfillment Center. With a workforce of approximately 200, Southwire recently announced the closure of their facility at the Coffeyville Industrial Park due to the acquisition of a major competitor. Amazon.com, employer of over 800, changed their distribution business plan, and are re-locating to another area. This reduction in the county employ-ment base will create a surplus of over 1000 skilled workers over the next year. Montgomery County’s unemployment rate for August 2014 is 6.0% compared to a state rate of 4.7% and his-torically has remained higher than the state average. Montgomery County’s workforce total of 17,552 and current un-employment rate translate to a current available unemployed work-force within the county of 1,029 and will rise after March 2014. According to commute pattern data, Montgomery County is an employment hub within southeast Kan-sas drawing 43.3% of workers from surrounding counties.
