throughout North America and Mexico. To bolster its commitment to
lowering emissions, Tri-National, Inc., is a partner in the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay Program.
According to the EPA, the global freight sector will be responsible for
more vehicle emissions than passenger vehicles by 2050. To counter
this, the EPA launched the SmartWay program in 2004 to create a
comprehensive system for tracking commercial vehicle emissions.
The program is primarily for the United States, but it provides a
template for similar initiatives in other countries. Beyond tracking
current emission levels, SmartWay works with companies and its
partners to locate more fuel-efficient technologies.
Through collaboration with environmental organizations,
transportation associations, and various state and local
governments, SmartWay aims to become a recognizable brand that
makes vehicle emissions a top priority.
