3. Abouttoriana
I was born and raised in Detroit, MI. I moved to Chicago my
freshmen year of college fall 2013 to attend Robert Morris
University. I realized being a pharmaceutical major wasn’t
really my passion. I transferred to Harold Washington
Community College to finish my general education courses
and I will be getting my Associates Degree in General
Studies fall 2016. I am the oldest out of five. I have one
brother and four sisters. I plan to transfer to University
of Illinois at Chicago to get my Bachelors of Business
Administration.
5. mylowwageexperience
I worked in several low-wage jobs over the years such retail and banking.. Not a single one of those
jobs offered any kind of benefits at all no retirement plan, no paid vacation, and no health
insurance.. When I worked low-wage jobs, I was lucky in the fact that I always had a place to live. I
lived with my parents at first, then transitioned to living on campus and that was paid off because of
my scholarships. I worked a part-time job to help my parents out with my groceries. But what made it
worse was the fact that I couldn’t save a dime. It didn’t matter how hard I tried or how much I wanted
to get ahead either; saving was simply impossible.
7. Whydoiwanttobeai.c.stars?
Being a woman in technology means being surrounded by amazing technology and crazy smart
and ambitious people all the time. Being a technical woman means being able to join in on
the fun and building things for people as a path toward making their lives better. I want
to change the perception about women who are in tech. I want to help women become more
confident in the workforce. I enjoy gaining more knowledge about technology. I continued
to develop new leadership skills and strengthening the skills I already have. I.c. stars
is a place where leaders are created as well as opportunities and it would be my honor to
be apart of that.
