Dancing horses release 2015
1. Bring On The Dancing Horses!
LUArts are launchingtheir new openmic night for bandsand musiciansthis November; the first
major live indie concertofits kind forseveral years. It will be called DancingHorsesand will feature
some fantastic emerging local and national bandsas headliners.
The concert, named after an Echoand the Bunnymensong, will enliven the indie music
scene in Loughborough. Headliners are the Bristolian five-piece, dream-pop band
Rozelle and raucous Leicester indie outfit Midnight Wire, who are hotly tipped
by Music in Leicester, The Monograph and BBC Introducing.
Rozelle are a female fronted five-piece from Bristol. Graduates from BIMM (British
and Irish Modern Music Institute), they have been providing stellar performances
across the country, including 2000 Trees and YNOT festival, this year. Their debut
euphoric ‘Heavy’, is a spine-tingling soundscape that led to them being featured on
BBC Introducing in the West. They are performing at Loughborough to kick off the
Dancing Horses project and finish their national tour.
Leicester’s own Midnight Wire will also be playing on the night. They have garnered
reputation for their energetic sets. One performance, for instance, in Manchester
concluded with lead singer Alex Van Roose serenading an audience member in the
men’s bathroom. For such activities and tireless work ethic, they have secured airplay
from BBC Radio One and BBC’s The Beat.
Inorder to give local artists and art a boostin Loughborough,DancingHorseswill be inviting
involvement from Loughborough’slocalstudentsand residents at all levels of the concert’s
participation. Fromrecordingthe event withLSU Media to designingsome artworkforthe show
and ofcourseperforming;we welcome any creative involvement.
The event aims to provide a platform foryoungmusicians wishingto continueLoughborough’s
onceproudhistory of birthing musicians like The Wave Pictures,Mc Nxtgen, YoungKnives, one half
ofBasement Jaxxandothers; now we wantto find some more.
This event is part of Happy Mondays, a series of events offered by LU Arts in
partnership with Loughborough Students' Union ranging from gigs to Speech Bubble,
a performance poetry night.
Dancing Horses will launch on the 16th of November at Cognito’s in the
Loughborough Student Union. For more information, such as for open mic nights,
