Biographical Information
Timothy Brian Robertson, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, currently serves as
Chairman of Bay Shore Enterprises, LLC, an investment holding company with
activities in international media, real estate, and private capital ventures. Its most
significant holdings are positions in Max Media II, the owner of television and radio
stations in the United States, and Red Muse Entertainment LTD., a leading
independent producer of television programming in China. He is also one of the
founders and principle owners of Major League Lacrosse, which launched in 2001
to showcase the best outdoor lacrosse in the world.
He previously served as President and CEO of International Family
Entertainment (NYSE-FAM), which was best known for its flagship cable network,
The Family Channel. FAM was acquired by Fox Kids Worldwide in 1997 and was
subsequently sold to Disney/ABC in 2000. Prior to FAM, he served as President of
the Christian Broadcasting Network, which started the predecessor to The Family
Channel, the CBN Cable Network. During his tenure at CBN, Mr. Robertson also
co-hosted its popular television program, The 700 Club, from the fall of 1986
through the spring of 1988. He also oversaw the launch of CBN’s Middle East
Television in southern Lebanon in 1982. Mr. Robertson remains a leader in the
television industry where he served on the boards of various industry associations
including the Cable Television Advertising Bureau and the National Cable
Television Association.
Following the sale of FAM, Mr. Robertson has pursued various educational,
charitable, and public service activities. He has served on the governing boards of
several educational institutions including the University of Virginia, Regent
University, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, The King’s College and
Seminary, and the Norfolk Academy. He also helped to found the College of Arts
and Sciences Foundation at the University of Virginia. Other board appointments
include the Virginia Chapter of The Nature Conservancy and the Virginia Aquarium
and Marine Science Museum of Virginia Beach, VA. He recently served on the
Council for Virginia’s Future, founded by Governor Mark Warner and previously
served the Commonwealth of Virginia on the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Commission
for Higher Education. He is also a member of the Society of the Cincinnati.
Mr. Robertson graduated from the McCallie School of Chattanooga, TN in
1972, received a BA from the University of Virginia in 1977, an MDiv from Gordon-
Conwell Theological Seminary of South Hamilton, MA in 1981, and completed the
Executive Program in Business Administration at the Graduate School of Business,
Columbia University in 1986.
His interests include skiing, wing shooting, golf, racing sports cars, and
American decorative arts. He is married to the former Lisa Nelson, of Denver, CO,
and they have four daughters, a son, and a growing cadre of six grandchildren with
two on the way.
