• Settlers traveling west had to make decisions about what to
take. If I had to travel west on the Oregon Trail, I would
take rice, blankets, and footcream. Rice would be useful
because its food that would last on the six month journey,
and could trade with other settlers for things that they may
have. Blankets would be great to keep warm and for when
stops are made to eat and sleep. Footcream would help
with the pain of having to walk six month barefoot with no
shoes. These are the items that would be most helpful on
the journey west.
